To be fair - I didn't have a clue when I was still in my 20s! Chart music always seemed to be for club-going extrovert types.

I remember once thinking it was great to see the Manic Street Preachers on Top-of-the-pops with 'If you tolerate this.....' . Then I noticed the kids in the studio audience looking at each other in a puzzled way as if to say 'What's this?'.
