What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
What are you planning on eating on Christmas Day?
I usually create a nut roast but this year I fancy trying something different. Last year I made a butternut squash monstrosity. (I'm basically looking for ideas to steal ) |

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
No idea. I'm not cooking it, so I don't choose. I'm happy with whatever I get. (Assuming it's vegetarian, of course)

How about a pescatarian dinner? Seem to remember you saying you like fish.

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
The usual...whatever we can scramble last minute from Iceland
Should be fun this year seeing as I'll be in Scotland this time. If you are pescetarian biscuits, how about a massive salmon? Or Hake even? |

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
My Sister-in-law, who is a vegetarian, made a fantastic vegetarian wellington last Christmas. Although my Sister-in-law has been flexible when it comes to being a vegetarian. So this year it might just be a wellington.Anyway, I better get some sleep. Decaf is where it's at!

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
Currently, not Christmas dinner.
I have COVID (but I'm pretty much fine) and my parents, my partner's parents and his sister and niece were meant to be coming. The current plan is to delay until the day after Boxing Day, so not sure what we'll do on the real day. If KFC is open... It's really annoying. I had a Christmas cocktail planned and we got some cute little reindeer placeholders with people's names on. We've been lucky previous years though I guess. |

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
What actually is a nut roast? I'm imaging just sort of a giant peanut.

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
^ Basically. But it has to have an hour of insulting jokes made at its expense while it just sits there before serving.

Biscuits takes things too far and makes the giant peanut cry.

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
I'll be in Paris for Christmas this year and spending it with a partner's parents and other family members. I don't really know what I'll be eating, but have been told it'll probably be goose and/or duck, fish, a variety of seafood, cheeses and pates, which sounds great, but I think everything will probably taste like cardboard anyway due to the anxiety double whammy of language barrier plus meeting so many people for the first time.

It's quite nice really. It's a sort of rich, herby, nutty stuffing. |

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
It's a kind of savoury nutty cake. Goes nicely with vegetable gravy and some assorted veg and potato products.

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
I'll be off to the shops in a bit to see if anything takes my fancy for Xmas grub. Wish me luck, because if nothing gets me salivating there's a real chance it'll be a pickled onion + cocktail sausages + dip selection kind of occasion.

Something roasted and overcooked I imagine. Every time I say to check it so it's not over done, and every time I'm ignored.

Wtf have they done to quality street wrappers they look like they've been wrapped in sadness. Plus the actual sweets have shrunk.
What will I be eating? Roast chicken with everything else that goes with it. |

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
Done the shopping tonight. Fridge shelves bending under the weight, mainly caused by wine bottles to be honest.
Lots of 15p veg, which all supermarkets seem to be doing again, which suits me, as I love the veg element of Christmas dinner. Just give me a plate of roast potatoes, roast parsnip, sprouts, mashed spuds and peas, and I'm happy with that. Do love a nice Christmas pud and custard too. |

Re: What will you be eating for Christmas dinner?
In the end I've gone for *drum roll* NUT ROAST.
I'd started off thinking, "Woo yeah! Let's do something different!" Then when I went to the supermarket it was CHOCKA and I just wanted to go back home, and at home I had all the ingredients. And to be fair, I usually just have a plate of vegetables and slither of nut roast so whatever I was going to make instead needed to be small and insignificant - like nut roast. Hahah but on New Year's Day I'm going to be making a recipe that was kindly PMed to me. THANK YOU! |
