Would you be honest if this happened?

If a large company refunded you in error for items that you have received.

As in, it took a while to arrive in the post, you chased, they refunded, item arrived?

If so did you sign for it?

I'd be tempted to keep schtum unless there was a black and white receipt that showed I'd received it

I've had this happen a few time and yes I let them know and offer to pay or let them arrange collection of the item if I've already bought another.

It depends on the amount. If it was something small-ish that I wouldn't mind paying back if they realised their mistake, then probably. And if it was from somewhere faceless and big, like Amazon. If it was a large sum, in the hundreds or more, I'd be way too paranoid to keep it. Wouldn't be worth the worry.

If you guys were returning an item to a company for a refund and you either didn't send the item tracked or didn't put any identifying information inside so they know it's yours, would you want the business to just claim non receipt or try their best to sort out the issue you created?

You should treat others as you wish to be treated yourself.

If someone wants to send me something I've paid for and Then refund me, I'm sure as hell keeping quiet

Hell my boss spent x thousand pounds on some sofas for them to cock the delivery up and send them twice, did he speak up? no he put the 2nd lot in another of his many rooms

They got a lot more money than I have, not sure what being honest gets you, its not like they are going to go bust purely off a few people keeping quiet about some cock ups.

Yes but people often return stuff with nothing to link it to them, so you have to play detective and people often return £600 phones 2nd class untracked just in a normal unpadded envelope.

If I was struggling financially no. If I was flush, probably yes if it wasn't more hassle than it was worth.

Usually I am honest because otherwise I just have guilt. I returned a tenner to the corner shop recently they gave me by accident about three hours later. Woman on the till laughed in my face so that was a good SA moment. Obviously if I was really strapped it would be different.

Yes, this is exactly how I would feel too.
