Lightbulb SAUK Radio

Some of the members that have beem here a while may remember we used to have an SAUK Radio Station. Well I was one of the guest presenters and I really enjoyed it and I'm seriously considering an attempt at bringing it back.

It would feature a live radio show by me a few times a week (admittedly being mainly playing music as I don't have anything interesting to talk about on air!) but there will be requests from SAers via the board or email plus some guest presenters (if anyone is interested in volunteering (you can broadcast from your PC with a standard broadband connection and some free software).

The question is though, would anyone listen to it, obviously there's no point in doing it otherwise! So here's a poll, plus tell me any other thoughts you have/things you'd like to hear on SAUK Radio.

Wow no way? I'd love to listen, but I'm not always online, you should do like an hours worth of talk/music/discussion/news then stick it on a loop.

I used to enjoy listening to it. Especially, I think it was Ren.....she used to sing on her own if I remember correctly. Or she'd have a cd on in the background and she'd sing along to it.

Then I think there was someone that talked incredibly fast. And someone else whose connection kept on flickering.

Edit : I forgot about the American that I once got to read out the football score :
East Fife 5 Forfar 4
Say it out loud youself to see how funny it sounds. Now imagine it being said in an American accent.

The last one we had could be listened to using either Windows Media Player or Winamp. I'm just trying to get the technical stuff set up now, ie getting my PC set up as a server (yikes, scary!) so hopefully I'll be able to do some testing later tonight.

I miss the radio.

Yes peasie it was me who used to sing on her own and generally talk crap for 2 odd hours.

I'd certainly like to talk crap again if boc gets things working.

thats bloody stupid peasie. theres no way East Fife could score five not with their current team

CLASSIC KNOWLEDGE: EAST FIFE 5 FORFAR 4

Has there ever been the Saturday night score announcer's all-time dream result: East Fife 5, Forfar 4? There's $20 riding on it," said Hugh McGinley. Nearly but not quite. The Fifers visited Station Park during the 1963-64 campaign in the old Scottish Second Division and scored four. Sadly, their hosts still won, the final score being... Forfar 5, East Fife 4.

I'd try to listen. I didn't last time, but I'd give it a go. And if we ever decide to get a broadband connection, you might even get subjected to my rubbish live on air...

Yeah I would like to hear the radio again it was fun. I used to listen to it though itunes on my MAC. Apple have got this new thing where you can download preplayed radio staions and then you can listen to them on your ipod whenever you want. It's called prodcastiog It's pretty cool I have subscribed to a few, mainly just peoples audio blogs which can be quite funny.

I dont know how, but you might be able to create podcasts for the SAUK radio. Its just an idea.

I remember trying to listen last time, but it wouldn't work for me. Not sure why............I just voted no. I wasn't thinking straight. If there was some jaw jaw and less music I'd listen, but everyone has there own taste in music..........too much music and I'd loose interest.

Hmmn, thanks for all the comments folks, it looks like there is definitely a market for this!

Muteme: Yes, if anyone just wants to play music and not talk, that's absolutely fine.

PBoy: No, the requests aren't really limited except that they have to be within the scope of my music collection (5000 songs+)

Siskin: Yes, there were a few technical problems with it last time, the main problem is, there is a limited bandwidth on the server (last time it was somebody's PC and this time it will be my PC) so it only lets a certain number of people connect but if it becomes popular, I'll pay to get it hosted on a proper server.

Anyway, I think I've got it sussed. Can some of you please try and access it and let me know if it works as I can't test it myself. Go into Windows Media Player, Winamp or ITunes and go to Open URL (Open Stream in ITunes) then type in the following address:

http://62.249.220.179

If that doesn't work, try

http:// 205.188.234.161

instead...please let me know if it works, if it doesn't, what error msg do you get? If it works, there should just be a load of random punk tunes playing off my Winamp.

Hmmn, well you 'touched' my server as it has two hits on it...for some reason though it's not letting people connect...try it now, I've set it to always use my fixed IP rather than find it automatically. It's not my firewall playing up though as I've tried disabling that. Hmmn.

Sure, if anyone who wants to do a show could PM then that would be great, I'll sort out a time with you, promote your show here and discuss the technical side of it with you.

Sorry, I've just switched over from MP3s to my DJ console!!! Normal service will be resumed in a minute (there's a huge delay here for some reason though)
