A little bit horrid. Long story short - I recently asked my friend if she wanted to go to the theatre to see a show. She said she didn't want to see it. Tonight I've just seen on social media that she's there with another one of our friends. Le sigh.

Still feeling a little sorry for myself as I woke up yesterday with a cold, bad head and sore throat

I've also quit my volunteer job (that I'd somehow managed to keep up for the last 8 months on top of my normal job) because I felt it was too much with everything else that's going on at the moment, so feeling crap about that too even though a year ago I never would have believed I was capable of it

Thanks everyone. Weirdly, before that, day six of withdrawals was going surprisingly well.

I got the message when I was at work and was told he was on an IV for antibiotics and being given oxygen and it really threw me. I burst into tears in the staff room. I also did the same thing in a meeting later. Most people have been very nice about it but I'm mortified. I feel so selfish for even caring about the fact i cried, but I'm so embarrassed and feel really unprofessional.

My dad is an alcoholic and really quite skinny so it's not like he started off healthy. I know it's very unlikely anything would happen to him, but we have had a pretty bad relationship for the last 15 years and the thought of something happening and never seeing him again just terrified me.

I hate how anxiety hits even at these times. My dad is in hospital and I'm sat worrying that my reaction was an over dramatic one or that people might think badly of me for crying.

I don't know how is reasonable to react to something like this. I don't know if anything im feeling is really me or withdrawal symptoms. Or BPD.

My husband not being here and the house being empty isn't helping either. And no laptop. Just sat here with a broken iPhone 3, writing pages of A4 paper and reading the occasional book. It does help keep my mind off things but a whole month of this is gonna be hard.

This is the first real time that being away from home has been hard. Being without my husband was bad enough, my laptop breaking made it all worse, and then running out of meds and now this with my dad. It's been a very long time since my life has gone to shit so suddenly.

Hope your old man recovers well Emma!

Any idea whats wrong with the laptop?

Might just need the vents and fans cleaning out. Might have over heated due to the hot weather.

Thank you both.

@Cairn, when I turn it on, the power comes on and I can hear the fan start but black screen. The hdd light blinks on for a second then as the hdd light turns off, it goes quiet. Power stays on but no screen. I've tried everything I can find on google but I am just not very good with this kinda stuff.

Hope your dad makes a speedy recovery, IL. I understand how hard times must be for you.

I'm feeling a little crappy myself. Things at home are still turbulent, and I'm struggling a little with coursework and possible ADHD symptoms. I feel like I don't really have anyone to talk to about my issues, or at least don't feel confident talking about them with.

Hmm not sure what the issue is.

Do you think the HDD dies when it goes quiet? Can you hear any noise from it at all?

Might be an issue with the screen failing though.

I had a similar issues a while back, almost threw the laptop out then it randomly just started working again.

Social media has a way of making you feel like a loser on a bad day.

Didn't get pass the interview stage at a job I really wanted. Although this work experience has offered me a new experience, I'm still having the same old difficulties of socialising as I do everywhere else.

I luckily have one friend but feel I have pushed or grown apart from most other old acquaintances and friends.
You seem to be pushing yourself all the time though mate which is a good thing.

Keep going, keep trying!

Crappy. I have to go and get a blood test done. Which is bad enough as I have a phobia of needles. And now I've just realised it will be the first time I've set foot in a hospital since Martin died. So I'm imagining myself having a panic attack in the vicinity of the hospital.

Why you need a blood test, me wench?

Last blood test I had was so painless, so don't worry!

I'm going to try and take my mum with me, don't think I can go on my own.

Suspected diabetes apparently Cos I need something else wrong with me.

It's not the pain I'm worried about, it's the needle

I went with my mom not long back and she had one in the morning then another the next morning.

She's a beast!

Your GP suspect diabetes?

What symptoms do you have?

^^ When I've had blood tests before I've looked away or closed my eyes so I couldn't see anything, that helped a bit.

Hope someone can go with you and it goes ok

Needle phobia sounds horrible. I think my mum has that. It's quite common though, so maybe if you tell the nurse they'll have a way to make it less awful for you.

I don't think I have diabetes. A lot of the symptoms are just general symptoms.

I'm not even sure if I'm going to be able to do this. I don't know whether I can go into a hospital.

Can't you have it done at the surgery, then have them send the blood to the hospital?

You can do it though!

You'll be in and out in no time!

^ My mum's just asked me the same thing. Pretty sure my GP surgery has never done blood tests. Blood tests are done at a hospital.

There'll be a ginormous frickin' queue Cairn, I will not be in and out in no time
