Albert. I grew up on the Uncle Albert era version of the show, they never seemed to repeat the earlier shows with Grandad very often.

Grandad's good, if a bit unkempt. Early OFAH can seem a bit grim and depressing at times. Not as depressing as the comeback specials when Uncle Albert was dead and everyone else looked so old they might die at any minute.

I watched the original - and I definitely say Grandad. I loved his personality.

I loved that episode with the canary - it was my favourite one.

Its hard to say, but I choose Uncle Albert.

Grandad was great, but he was only in it for 3 series, before OFAH was properly established. Although I love the earlier episodes, I find the later ones funnier (the last three xmas specials in 2001-02-03 were rubbish).

Grandad had that cheeky chappy personality about him and he would join in with with Del Boy in winding up Rodney. Grandad was in the best episodes too. That scene where they shoved Grandad in the back of the van whilst trying to beat the 4 minute warning was a classic.

grandad. but i love albert too.
grandad was a weasley old git who would ruin his own family's attempts to improve their lives/situation if it meant he could score a few quid. he was a simple git though and could be made happy with a cheeseburger or two.
he reminded me of an old mickey pearce.

when albert came into it the show got all soppy and hopeful, it lost its dirt and hopelessness.

I agree to an extent, I also liked the earlier series where Rodney's character was a bit rougher and more downtrodden.

I voted Grandad, both were good but I liked the way Lennard Pearce played the role with more subtlety.
