^ I wouldn’t say shape matching games were a complete waste of time - keeps the brain active I guess! But I can certainly understand why you’ve deleted them if you feel it’s distracting you. It sounds good to try and learn a new skill, I hope you get on well with the embroidery!

I gave a demo to about 30 people for work, over the internet
It was about three minutes long but unscripted
I can't say much more about it as I work for a big, well known company
I'm on holiday now until after Easter (had to use it or lose it)
I'm resisting the urge to catastrophise over it in my own head, and I got positive feedback.

Go you, well done
Unscripted is so much more difficult, having to remember things through the nerves.

^^ wow! That’s amazing, al!

Sounds like you nailed it! I had to do some video input recently and it’s terrifying - my voice was so shaky. “I promise I’m not delivering this to you from on top of the washing machine.”

@hellotiger, aww that’s so lovely that going back to work went so well. Your workers are lucky to have such a caring boss who puts their wellbeing first

While "working" from home I cleared out 5 black bags of crap that I've been holding on to - so liberating - this is only the beginning

Its so satisfying throwing it all out, I mean why do we have all this stuff anyway!! I’m going to Marie Kondo my whole flat
Are you not able to work from home Mr Nobody, even at the moment? I do a couple of days at home and a couple of days at the office, which is ideal for me, I’m very lucky
Aye, took one look out the window and haven’t been out since Saturday

^^ Aww good, keep looking after yourself

I actually can’t fry an egg. I think I did it once to earn a badge at brownies but then never again haha.

@Tubbs aww bet that was lovely.

@ Mr Nobody and Otters - clearing stuff out is so satisfying!

I completed the dreaded week 5 run 3 of the C25k programme this morning( its the biggest jump up in running time during the 9-week programme) I had to go back a few weeks after injuring my knees for over a month and not being able to run but built back up and feeling good about running again. It was tough, but I still felt I had a little in the tank at the end so I'm feeling upbeat about being able to run 5k by the end of the programme.

I finally succumbed to my first eccentric middle-aged-man-in-his-40s activity and bought some litter pickers to clean up my local heath. I could probably collage my entire bathroom with the used condom wrappers.

^^ aww Nanuq, I'm so sorry that they have found something on the heart ecg. Hopefully it's been detected early and there will be a positive course of action. Hope you're alright. Whenever I see things about long Covid I often feel sad and wonder how you're doing, hope that doesn't sound creepy.

^ aw yay. I often see this man around picking up the litter and think, "what a dude.". I keep wanting to take part in a beach clean up but don't live near the beach. Maybe I can time a beach holiday with one.

Thanks Biscuits! I also went foraging for stinging nettles to make into some soup and with my rubber gloves and bin liner I'm worried I might get a reputation for looking like the local weirdo serial killer

Hahaha stinging your victims with stinging nettles. What does stinging nettle soup taste like?

When I was a child I used to suck the flowers on nettles, tasted so gooood. (Trying to block out the retrospective thought that a dog might have wee-ed on them. eeek haha)

Do you mean white dead nettles? They look like stinging nettles but don't sting, and they have cute white flowers with nectar which is what makes them sweet.

Stinging nettle soup is very tasty, difficult to describe. But you have to augment with seasoning, butter, cream etc otherwise it's horrible. Also best to blend it into a smooth paste otherwise it looks rather unappetising!

^ yep, the little white flowers on the nettles when the leaves don't sting ya anymore. They taste so noice.

I love soups, so would be up for trying it. Oh that sounds interesting! I was expecting it to be like a caldo verde style soup. I'd love to see a picture of it the next time you make it if possible.

A bit thrown together, but still very tasty! Ideally should look like a smooth paste with an arty bit of cream swirled on the top otherwise it sort of resembles sick!

^ I also did some litter picking today. Two big shopping bags with rubbish.

And I'm a fan of nettles as well! Not as good as wild garlic, but easier to get hold of.

If your username is a reference to Bach then we got an awful lot in common...

^^ cool! Thanks for sharing. Gonna have to try that one day!

p.s. wowzers @ that bread...it looks so good.

^ nice one on the litter picking. You two sound like two peas in a pod (or two nettles in a shrub)

Well done dustyfied. It does feel good doing your small bit for the community. I need to develope this side of myself more as I think I have a tendancy to be a bit insular and self-centred, so I thought litter picking would be a good thing to do. I care very much for the natural environment and littering really annoys me.

Hehe, not so much a direct Bach reference, just reference to music in general as I am a composer! But Bach is amazing. My favourite interpreter is either Glenn Gould or Angela Hewitt, who I met once and she signed a CD for me. Do you play a musical instrument?

^ Wow, hats of for being a composer! It must be great to be able to compose music. I had guitar lessons in my teens and leaned just about enough to appreciate proper musicians.

I'll have to look up Angela Hewitt. I mostly know Tatiana Nikolayeva.

^Thanks, but I do often wish I'd studied to be a doctor or lawyer or something!!

Oh yes, I know Tatiana Nikolayeva. Her Goldberg Variations recording is classic, one the best.

I can only do a few chords on the guitar! I hope you still play from time to time?!

I don't use this forum consistently, but whenever I do this thread always makes me smile.

One of my many gripes about anxiety is that it warps perception and makes people feel they aren't worthy of full participation in life.

It's just not true. It's not even close to true. In one page alone it's an unrelenting stream of amazing people doing interesting things: composers, cooks, litter pickers, health goals....on and on!
