Default Storms and mental health

Does anyone find themselves getting a bit edgy with the storms we have been getting? For some reason I find them making me anxious and they dont normally. I think Im close to a breakdown actually. Everything is causing anxiety. Storms are usually comforting

My mum had a full blown phobia of storms (reminiscent of the terrifying sounds of the war when she was little) but she didn't pass her fear onto me. As a youngster, I loved watching storms from my bedroom window. I'd fling my window wide open, watch in awe as the nighttime turned to day for a fraction of a second and would count the distance between the claps of thunder and lightening. That storms could be dangerous never occurred to me. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

Later, I became slightly fearful of them because I'd fret that my child might get caught in one while out with a friend and that they'd seek shelter under a tree, despite me always warning him not too. In more recent years, I worry about the house getting struck by lightening and my loved ones and pets not being able to escape.

Maybe some people's general anxieties increase as they get older because they are more aware of the risks and consequences and have witnessed what can happen when things go wrong. In reality the chances of being struck by lightening are tiny if we stay safe and stay away from golf courses!

I'm sorry that some of your anxieties are starting to cause you distress, Angela, it's not a nice feeling at all

I'm the opposite, and love storms. I sometimes get a bit of 'pressure' in my forehead before one, but once the storm begins that immediately disappears and I get a ton of energy. It's like someone plugged in a back up generator and while it lasts I have great focus, could exercise forever, get a ton of ideas, everything just works at 100%! I was born in a huge thunderstorm apparently, so maybe that has some subconscious effect? Who knows!

I never really had much of an opinion of them, but I was woken up by one the other night at about 3am and it was nice to listen to in bed for a while.

Storms are magnificent. The sounds & the smell.
I use https://asoftmurmur.com/ specifically for the rain & thunder sounds. And a bit of singing bowl in the mix.

Whilst most book holidays to seek out the sun, there's part of me that wants to go places to go experience some storms. Not the ones that can kill you of course, just the pleasant ones.

I do like a light mist of rain. I also like a light breeze. Although anything that shakes a leaf off its tree is a bit much for me. Which might be linked to getting more fossilized. I'm sure there was a time when I used to embrace nature. Although I don't mean in the sense of covering myself in honey and hugging a grizzly. Or maybe I do

I usually do like a storm but have been so agitated and stressed of late it just got to me.

I like to listen to storms and thunder before bed to help me sleep too!
