hmm i guess it means not having people you feel close to around you or available to be around.

Lonely is waking up alone from dreams where you're surrounded by people. Its going to work and not saying more than a muffled "hi" to your work mates whilst surrounded by laughter and loudness, then spending the day in your own world avoiding eye contact and delibertaly pushing people away despite being desperate for attention. Its leaving work knowing youre heading home to a silent and empty flat. Its sitting alone at home with a feeling of dread and emptiness with noone to call or go to. Its knowing that this could be your life until you die.

Lonely?

You can be lonely even if you are in a relationship with someone, and have friends around you.

I guess your lonely if you feel like you can't reach out comfortably to anyone.

This used to really get to me, still does to some extent. I used to HATE dreaming, they were always so much better than my life and I just felt empty for the whole day, sometimes longer. Oddly I don't think I have ever had SA in my dreams???
