Default Carpenters music

I love music by the Carpenters, especially Karen Carpenter's voice. Is anyone else a fan?

She had a great voice. They did some great pop songs between 1970- 1975 . It was a shame she died so young.

An example of a song which showed what a great singer Karen was.

I wouldn't say i'm a super fan but i do enjoy listening to them. I put on their greatest hits in the shop yesterday and one of the other volunteers said 'finally some decent music'.

yes,..

I recall being really moved when she died, felt really bad about that, and not much gets to me usually.

Rumer is slightly similar, if you haven't already heard her stuff.

Back in 1981 I recorded an interview with Ray Moore and the Carpenters on BBC Radio 2 on to a cassette tape, and played it many many times especially after Karen died, and although I still have the tape I haven't had a tape deck for years, so I was thrilled to find the interview on you tube, here it if anyone is interested.

Carpenters spooked me as a kid. The idea of that little woman on that massive chair with the accompanying music. That gave me nightmares.

One great memory I have was when my Nana would take us to pick my Grandad up from the pub. I used to love watching the town lights in the distance on a dark night picking up my Grandad. It was magical.
Remember the old movie "1408" starring John Cusack ?

His character is entombed in a Hotel Room from which he cannot escape, rapidly going insane, with The Carpenters "Its Only Just Begun" playing on a seemingly endless loop on the radio throughout.

Scary stuff!!!!!

Its a decent watch, Johnny.

Like you say though, it may make you think differently of that particular song afterwards......
