Do you die your hair?
No, I’ve never died my hair. If you die it, what colours have you used?

Re: Do you die your hair?
Yes. I have dyed my hair since I was a teenager. Mostly brown and occasionally red or a plummy colour. If I didn't dye it these days I start to have too many grays Sometimes I buy a box dye from the shop but I usually get a hairdresser to cut and dye it

No I never have but I think I may have to start soon as the grey hairs are starting to creep in!

Re: Do you die your hair?
My hair sadly died a long time ago,
I used to go around looking like Jimi Hendrix in my youth. Now, I'm just another nameless baldie you pass in the street without noticing, I feel like Samson, the source of all my power has gone |

Re: Do you die your hair?
I've only ever dyed my hair once and that was in my 20s. I ended up dyeing it black and I didn't go back! Whereas now, I'm ok with my hair. Although if I ever do have a midlife crisis, then I'll probably end up dunking my barnet into anything!

Re: Do you die your hair?
Mine is white and I have never even considered dying it. I used to have waist-length dark hair until I was 40, then I had it shaved off for charity, kept it shaved for a decade or so, then allowed it to grow back a little, at which point I discovered that I'd gone grey. Since then, I've gone through periods of allowing it to grow a little, then shaving it, until five months ago, I met a friend who said that I look better with hair (I'd let it grow for a month at that time), so I've not shaved it since - I'm still not convinced, but even though I have a substantial amount of hair for the first time in 22 years, I'm not going to dye it.

Re: Do you die your hair?
I used to dye my hair all the time (red, purple, pink, black). Once I gave myself highlights and that was a disaster . I used to also dye half of it (the underneath) so the colour would poke through. I only ever used the semi permanent dyes that lasted about 40 washes because I didn't want roots or commitment.
I haven't dyed it in a very, very long time and prefer it to be my natural colour. Quote:

I've also used semi-permanent box dyes at home in the past and not had any issues. But it's usually better to go to a professional, especially one that has experience with curly hair, if you can. |

Re: Do you die your hair?
I've colored my curly hair a few times, trying different colors like light brown to bright blue. It was fun, but it did hurt my hair a bit because curly hair gets dry easily. The dye made my curls look less nice and a bit damaged because of the chemicals.
But, I found a really good way to fix my hair without losing my curls. I started using castor oil. I would put this thick oil on my scalp and all over my hair, especially on the ends, and then wash it off after 30 minutes to an hour. This really helped. The oil made my hair softer and my curls looked better again because of the good stuff in the oil. For anyone looking to keep their curls nice after coloring their hair, this article that taught me about the castor oil trick is very useful. |

Re: Do you die your hair?
I'm of an age where MPB is beginning to do it's thing, there's YT channels devoted to reducing the loss and increasing growth of what's remaining but the whole process is such a chore and I can't be arsed. Looking in the mirror is not my favourite pastime and thankfully I don't have to do much preening to get it looking adequate, a bit of styling powder, and run my fingers through the few fine hairs that I've still got and I'm done unless I decide to go over with clippers like today. My temples are going grey now so I have wondered whether to try dying it but It's hardly noticeable if I clip it short, it all seems a bit like trying to stop the inevitable so I doubt I'll ever bother. I miss having my hair cut although not by guys, in my experience the female stylists always take their time and the banter puts a smile on my face.
