Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
Well done!!
I have my test in 2days which I'm trying not to freak out about, just been looking over show me tell me questions and preparing for the test route. I'm already under a lot of stress and been very unwell at the moment with anxiety due to other reasons, but Im on beta blockers so I might just up my dose for next 2days to calm me down lol. Just don't wana fail for a third time tbh... |

Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
How did you do sillypenguin? Sorry about the anxiety levels being high for you around the time of your test, that’s not helpful. Did you manage to up your dosage for your medicine?

Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
Hey guys,
No I still didnt pass !! Was due to few silly things; like how I turned at a tiny roundabout and that I reversed back just a bit too much at the parallel park It was a totally unexpected route that they took me and the roads were beyond busy. I dont think the beta blockers helped much anyways lol. Always next time I guess, despite me feeling like whats the point (I have no extra cash to do lessons or book a test for a while...) |

Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
Those seem like minor issues to me. But it all depends on the examiner, i failed first time because i didn’t steer enough into a tight bend and checked mirrors too much!! Maybe go back and see about changing your medication not even for your driving but just in general? Beta blockers didn’t work well for me but of course everyone is different!

Well done! I bet you would have kissed the examiners bum, if they asked you. I can still remember that feeling, and it was 31 years ago.

Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
^ You don't need to know the theory before you start driving
By far the most useful thing when learning I'd say is having a car to drive, and someone to sit with you obviously. The amount you pay for an instructor is far more than a car costs. I only had about 14 hours with my instructor, and 4 hours of that was probably spent driving to the town I was practising in for the test. |

Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
You can retake as many times as you need to, I failed the first time on the hazard awareness (I clicked too early), just took it again a couple of weeks later

Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
^ yeah the hazard awareness is basically pot luck. I passed my theory but then stopped learning and had to do it again, ended up passing it three times in the end.
I can't remember my stopping distances, good job I don't drive now. Not that knowing you can stop from 70Mph in X meters really helps on the road anyway. |

Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
Fortunately there was no theory test in my day 32 years ago, you had the 35 mins test and 2 questions and 2 road sign cards from the examiner at the end. Those were the days.

Re: Driving Lessons with Anxiety
I think more numbers makes it worse
But the way I remembered was: 20mph x 2.0 = 40ft 30mph x 2.5 = 75ft 40mph x 3.0 = 120ft 50mph x 3.5 = 175ft ...well you get the idea. |
