Are children scared of you?
I have 3 kids of my own, obviously they're not scared but their cousins etc will not come into the same room as me and will stand in the hall giving me dirty looks. Its quite funny to watch, they could be outside playing with my kids having a ball, they then come running into my house and see me and they go from happiness to fear in seconds. I will talk to them and try and make them feel at ease but it just doesn't work. It seems to happen with most children, I will admit I feel awkward around children so perhaps they pick up on this and I make them feel awkward or something.
Does anyone else have this issue? |

Re: Are children scared of you?
If anything I have the opposite issue, children and pet's seem to gravitate to me and I feel less stressed around them however I am mindful about being a single man being around children, that said as part of my job I do have an enhanced criminal records check.
As for your family little ears may have overheard grown up conversation's about you and they have formed their own opinion of you |

Re: Are children scared of you?
Not that I am aware of, which is a bit of a problem for me, as I am terrified of children.
Luckily I don't come into contact with them very often these days. |

Re: Are children scared of you?
That's a shame, it must make you feel upset that youngsters in your own family are so wary of you.
I know exactly what you mean though, lots of people are scared of me, more so when I was in my 20's than now. I tend to just ignore children (and most people) anyway |

Re: Are children scared of you?
All kids ever hear is to watch out for strange men, which is a sad reflection of affairs but a necessary one probably, I wouldn't worry about it it's probably got nothing to do with you as such.

No but they get bored with me. I don't come across as fun or respond in the right way when they want to play a game or have a joke.

Re: Are children scared of you?
Kids stare at me, I mean for friggin' ages, to the point where their parents wonder what they're looking at. They get used to my freak face eventually, I guess that goes for everyone I meet.
