Re: people living in council housing, do you like where you live?
Housing asociation. Very small house, cold even when heated plus wall insulation stuff is in Walls. Too much for what you get only has one bath and no shower despite having room for one also you can't buy the house from them even if you wanted to. On the plus side the house looks a bit better than some do and has a reasonable garden even though it's on a hill, just a bit small really and the thin crappy Walls which you can't hang ics up on. Ps I dunno why my fone keeps capitalising the w in walls.

Re: people living in council housing, do you like where you live?
Mines about 15 years old, quite good condition, modern cul de sac, no rubbish allowed it seems, don't think you could find a better council place to live. nice to know they'll come round and fix stuff and if they don't after I've told them ( like the sealant round the bath ) it's no real skin of my nose.
I've lived here 5 years, got a non standard tenancy, shelter told me they could, in therorey give me 6 weeks notice at any time, which isn't good. Trying to get it converted but they're digging their heels, even tho they know the tenancy agreement was so badly drawn up they can't really refuse to give me an assured tenancy, I hope anyway |

Re: people living in council housing, do you like where you live?
Yes because it's close-ish to where I was born (a council estate, Though better area/people)
No because I'm surrounded by pikeys and chavs, Also I'm used to a 'better' form and standard of living. |

Renting from a private landlord. Lovely one bedroom near Swiss Cottage, North London. Paid for through housing benefit.

Re: people living in council housing, do you like where you live?
Housing association. I don't like that my flat is on the ground floor and gets a lot of knocks on the windows from kids on the estate, I feel too exposed. The whole block has problems with rats getting in and dying in places you can't find them and stinking out peoples flats including mine. Winter can be pretty nasty because the heating doesn't work properly.
I like that there is an all night garage with everything you need just down the road so I can avoid seeing people in the daytime. Also, I like that I have a roof over my head! |

Re: people living in council housing, do you like where you live?
I live in a ground floor council flat and it has a small garden. I have had things stolen earlier in the year but this wasn't a break-in. It was by kids who were supposed to be my son's friends who he let into the flat.
Apart from this I am quite happy with the flat although I don't know anyone in the neighbourhood. It is reasonably quiet although the lady upstairs can be quite heavy-footed but I suppose my son and I make a bit of noise sometimes too. |
