Standing up for myself
the other day I assigned to do a bit of enjoyable work which gets taken in turns. as I was about to start, a lady who is very well known to be confrontational came up to me very rudely and had a go at me, saying it was her turn, etc.
anyway I would have usually caved in quite quickly and said ok, but this time I said no, it was my turn and i wouldn't back down. she went off in a huff to check the rota and came back and i made her apologise for being so rude about the whole thing. i felt great after as its the first time i've really stood my ground for a while, i knew i was in the right anyway but thats beside the point. it may not sound like much but instead of always saying "yes" this time I said "No!". a clear sign to me that my confidence is improving which is the root of my issues. |

Re: Standing up for myself
Hey well done! I also struggle with assertiveness so I know how hard it is to stand up to someone and say 'no' when you're that used to caving in and saying 'yes', so go you!
