Those dudes were *so formative* in my music tastes. I saw "Ladytron" on a clip show when I was 13 or so, and it blew my tiny mind. I've played the first five albums to death since, but I always seem drawn to stuff that has some of the same elements - the colour, the glitter, the playfulness, the subtle darkness, the sonic creativity, the ironic distance...

...yeah, I just came here to post some ridiculous Eurodisco. I'm going to put that down to ironic distance.

I've been blasting the hell out of this lately. It's an over-the-top Moroder-ish disco track, there's a 3 minute version here but frankly I think you need the whole thing:

Speaking of Moroder, this is one of my favourite things on Youtube:

We get a look around his studio! Which is full of insanely complicated 70s synth technology. Giorgio shows us how a vocoder works, and the whole thing is full of snatches of a charming prototype version of "Baby Blue".

But what really makes it for me is the fantastic, cheesy-ass voiceover guy:

"Giorgio Moroder - plugged in, turned on, and creating musical magic from thin air and solid state electronics...in a recording studio that even NASA can't match."
