Fainting
I've had social anxiety for 15 years. It started when I was 21. I have learned to manage most situations albeit some with alot of anxiety. The worst situation I could possibly imagine my self in is a hairdressers. I have fainted several times in hairdressers because the anxiety is so severe. I avoided going for 5 years and now take diazepam to go! I know it is common to feel faint when you are having a panic attack but has anyone else actually fainted? Ther hairdesser is the only situation I have fainted in. Shops, public transport, one to ones at work, etc, etc cause immense anxiety but I manage to stay conscious!

Re: Fainting
Hi JA123, Welcome
I've fainted in the past, once in the aisle of an airplane in the middle of the Atlantic-not fun I've never actually fainted in response to SA but I get incredibly dizzy if I have a panic attack and have actually fallen down because of it-so I can somewhat imagine what you feel. It's much better now because of various changes in my life, but just remembering that feeling makes me nervous! Anne |

Re: Fainting
I too hate being in the hairdressers. When they try to make conversation they just don't get that you're not comfortable with it, despite the one word answers lol.

Re: Fainting
my psychologist told me that when you're anxious your blood pressure goes up so although you feel faint you probably won't faint because the cause of actual fainting is low blood pressure.
