Default What do you do for a living?

For people who are in employment... What is your job?

Or if you have recently left work.... What was your job?

Im trying so hard to find a job, but some jobs are a no go for me seeing as i have SA, jobs like Customer service, retail, etc... So it'll be interesting to see what people in the SAUK community do for a living?... and maybe it'll give me inspiration on what types of job I should be looking for.

I work in a project for young people in a music center. The young people are kids that've been kicked out of high schools for being mentalists & little bastards.

DVD and Blu-ray author.

It's like programming but no lines of code, or very few at least. When you put your disc in your player, my company is responsible for what you see and hear, what the disc does, as well as the functionality/style of the disc right from start to finish.

I work part time at a similar thing, except we're not a music centre. We're a farm! It's crazy, scary, fun, bizarre, and sometimes touching. SA-wise it's daunting but we're given great training and support from other staff. Can be a great laugh sometimes I just spent my Friday painting a shed, looking after some newborn rabbits, and playing a tournament with the students on the Wii.

Have done about a million other jobs probably couldn't remember them all if I tried.

Stop putting in those bloody copyright notices. They're easy to skip on DVDs with any half-decent player, but they're a pain on Blu Rays!

Believe me, they piss us off too. Blame the big studios. We have to follow a shit-ton of rules, trust me. Some of them *are* skippable, it depends on the studio.

Well, all of them are skippable on DVDs anyway. Just skip directly to the title of the menu or the feature. Most good players ignore the restrictions on when you can/can't change title.

But Blu Rays = adfsafsdf ARGH, because AFAIK, the playback control is implemented in the Java applet on the disc, so they don't rely on the player to give a crap about the restrictions (the controls on the player just send events to the applet presumably), and the copyright notices are usually part of the Java applet itself rather than regular playlists anyway, so there's really no way to get around them.

Qualified car mechanic, did that for 4 years. At the moment I'm in a workshop building air-con and heating units that are used in various different vehicles. I've just finished a trial period working in the office upstairs, hated it, so am back in the workshop again . I also fitted engines on luxury yachts for a while last year.

I work with people who need a bit of help. They don't always want my help, or even recognise they need help. Often they want more help than I can give. It's a hard job. However, on the positive side, I was once told by someone that I was less of an arsehole than the other people who work in my building
