Any members from Stoke-on-Trent?
Hi, I suffered from Social Anxiety ever since I can remember, I am now 44. Recently, I split from partner of many years and found myself extremely isolated and lonely. I have no friends, which suited me at the time as my partner was my best friend but now I am not comfortable with the loneliness but I having social anxiety I have no way of making friends out in the "real world". So I was thinking if there is anyone on this forum from Stoke-on- Trent or surrounding areas, we could start our own friendship group firstly on here with a view of getting together, maybe getting out and about, forming new friendships and trying to help each other through our condition. If you think this might be for you let me know. Please be kind it's taken me 3 weeks to take the step of posting on here, my social anxiety is that bad.

Re: Any members from Stoke-on-Trent?
Well done on posting. What you're proposing is a great idea. I'm in the same situation as you and sounds like just what i need. But I'm an hours drive away from you so I'm not exactly local to you

Re: Any members from Stoke-on-Trent?
Hi Libbyjay, What a shame you aren't closer. It's an unbearable situation to be in (well for me it is), to have such chronic social anxiety, yet needing to have some sort of social interaction, even though it scares me to death. I do have family but none of them understands why I am like I am and why I can't just get out there and make friends so they make me feel even lonlier. Thanks for replying to my post.

Re: Any members from Stoke-on-Trent?
Hi, Again it's a shame you aren't from around here, you sound very interesting, I've read your blog. Unfortunately, it seems like I am the only SA in the village (stoke-on-Trent anyway) and would not have the guts to come alone (my SA is really bad at the moment) as much as I would love to meet up and make new friends. I'd love to know more about how you pushed yourself to get out there, I've had a look around the meetups site but it terrifies me. I have always suspected I am somewhere on the autistic spectrum, how where you diagnosed with Aspergers?

Re: Any members from Stoke-on-Trent?
This post sounds interesting as I have also been thinking about asking people on here (am a long time lurker) about groups that meet on a regular basis, as I believe that meeting for real is the only way we are ever going to get better. Sweat it to beat it, sort of thing.
