Sat in my car trying to summon up the motivation to leave and go for the walk that I've come for. I just wanted to get out of the house tbh, it's nice enough just to relax here. Feel a bit silly. Bank holidays always bring out more people and I'm dreading passing families/couples/other groups.

Have you got your weight vest?

I usually find that working up a sweat aka wrecking myself put's anxiety about meeting folk on the trail to the back of my mind.

@Cairn
No vest, just my own weight

I'd feel a bit self conscious wearing it, coz I can't disguise it without a fleece. Bloody thing broke a seam anyway and a strap has come loose, a sand bag has fallen out of the hole created :/ I'm thinking of reinforcing the whole vest with fishing line sewn in at the weak areas - I can't sew though :D

#domestic tasks :x

I'm watching 'The changing faces of Taylor Swift' on Box Hits and singing along to every single word

This should probably be in the Confessions thread.

I know I really should take more notice.

I took a mini sewing kit with me actually.

No holes in the tent. They havn't taped over the stitching properly to water proof it.

My mom still has this tiny boot I sewed at primary school. Last thing I ever sewn.

I got her to sew a trekking pole attachment on my pack for me before I went.

Really should learn some sewing skills as a lot of backpackers make all sorts of there own gear at a fraction of the cost you can buy it for.

I'd like to make my own down quilt actually.

Have you seen Keith Lemons Taylor Swift?

He actually looks just like her.

Ended up spending the afternoon lying in the sun reading! Tired after climbing and stress of finishing uni for the year. Couldn't get myself to move!

Did a climb in the Llanberis pass today (R was leaving early to get home). Lovely route, the hardest part involved hanging from some handholds, working the hands across and then swinging the feet around the corner to find something to stand on. Spent Saturday and Sunday climbing in the old slate quarries. Rather cool place to explore, loads of tunnels and old buildings everywhere.

Heading to Gogarth on Anglesey tomorrow. Couple of classic long routes on the sea cliffs. Supposed to be very atmospheric. Can't wait!

Sounds great.

Would love to do it but havn't got the guts and fitness.

You're small so I bet you're like a spider climbing about all over the place.

Have you ever free climbed?

Now that is scary.

Love watching people do that.

Ah, a knackered bit of water-proofing, pretty annoying :/ Have you returned the tent yet?

Definitely a good idea to learn a few essential mini skills, especially now you know of the consequences. How much of this water-proofing was .. knackered? Like, how big a length?

I forgot that I actually bought parts of the tent separately.

I didn't need stuff sacks and pegs and it was cheaper to buy it deconstructed like.

The ground sheet with attached inner was only 20 quid so can't be arsed to return it.

Havn't checked it yet but it could just be just a couple of small splits or tiny holes in the tape, or creases/folds where it hasn't adhered properly.

I'll find where it's failed and put some seam sealer on it or tape.

^^ Strictly speaking free climbing is what I do. Free climbing is just climbing using your body. Soloing is the scary stuff where people don't use ropes. I've done a very small amount, much happier with ropes!

Being small doesn't help much! Can be really annoying struggling on moves where someone taller can just reach the decent hold above my head.

How did your holiday in the Lakes go?

^^ Cool, sounds repairable at least. You can check the rest of the tent while you're at it too, just to make sure it's sound. Then you can write a scathing review of it

Never heard of soloing before.

Just though it was all called free climbing.

Did a bit of abseiling when I was a teen and loved that.

Holiday went well but I was a bit tired after doing bugger all for nearly 6 months, and I ended up in bloody white haven and then Carlisle, which I didn't want to do.

Nice warm up though and I'll probably be off again soon in a couple of weeks.

Might head for Scotland.

I posted some pics and a few short vids in pics forum.

PS

New tent ended up leaking so that was a bit uncomfortable too.

lol

I do like the tent's design. I can sit up in it and it has a porch, and will hold up in strong winds, and it's easy and quick to pitch. Could be a bit longer inside though and the vent the foot end could have a rain cover that's a bit longer because rain did come through that, and the storm flaps over the zips on the doors could be a bit better as they can let rain in a bit as well.

Good for the price but shouldn't bloody leak through the ground sheet.

Mm, sounds fine as long as it stays dry... bit of a bugger really that you're camping in the UK then

And in the wetest area in the bugger as well.

I do envy those abroad who don't have to carry as much stuff with them, especially waterproofs and lots insulating layers.

If I could afford it mate I'd renew my passport and bugger off abroad to places where the skies clear, weathers warm and you don't even need a shelter like a tent.
