Default What sort of support are you getting at the moment?

Hi

What sort of support are you getting at the moment?
Do you have any lined up?
Did you find something in particular helped in the past that has carried you through?
Would you like to know how to access support?

Sorry if I've missed any, I used up the 30 possible options allowed.
[poll is multiple choice]

How did you do that many options? Usually it gives me 10. No support.

Nothing right now. It's only telephones that really bother me these days which is something I should address but haven't had the mental health to do so.

^ once upon a time, there used to be a thing on here for telephone conversations between members, as a sort of exposure/support for talking on the phone.

I've had an awful lot of support in the past with several CBT groups and courses, anxiety support groups, counselling and quite a lot of therapy, oh, and of course SA meets.
I feel like I've probably used up all my NHS credit rating lol
I've probably learned enough to keep me healthily moving forward, but it's terribly easy for old habits to drag you back into unhealthy ways of living,
When you start to get a bit better after decades of not being great it's easy to feel like all the work is done, but nature doesn't seem to work that way
I think I need to be more conscious of how easy it is to slip backwards without really noticing,

I have a couple of, well, .kind of inward mantras that I need to guide me to keep myself right and it's basically
"do the right thing "
"keep moving "
"keep active"

No,.. I'm sure I haven't mentioned it here before,
I think one of my more helpful bouts of therapy led me to pluck a few concise bullet points from a list of positive things that I figured out were key to helping me stay on track in my recovery,
it seems to have sprung from that.

I think it's probably an all too human process to have little internal prompts to keep us from Lapsing?

I'm also very guilty of just losing all track of time and seem very prone to losing focus very easily,
It's only from retrospect that I understand where I've drifted off into some random off-shoot activity, and so, realised that I really need to reign myself in to get anything constructive done.

In-person private therapy every now and then (usually a couple of months every year or so) and a local in-person support group (which is intended for women of East+SE Asian origin to make friends and discuss experiences/racism/culture, but at meets/events mental health comes up a lot and it always helps so I guess that counts).

I suppose family and friends since I talk to them about things, but "support you are accessing" sounds rather formal for that.

Private counselling.

Though she's been ill and i've been ill so it's been a massive gap of seeing her lately.

Was seeing a counselling psycholgist (NHS) for awhile last year (- which I had to put a formal complaint in to get!) but it was a bit 50:50 in terms of helpfulness. The ACT stuff wasn't bad but even she admitted in an ideal world I would have psychotherapy - not availble though. So I'll stick with private counselling, NHS has nout.

If there's still no answer after the holiday weekend, you should nip down to your local gp's and ask them how to make contact,...
Put the onus back on them, explaining that you've called the number several times.
Embarrass them into doing something about it.
