Default Paul Mckenna's Instance Confidence book

Just finished reading this, wondered if anyone else has and what they thought of it?

Not listened to the CD yet and will do the exercises and listen to the cd for a couple of weeks before finally deciding what I think, but I found it interesting and I think he spoke a lot of sense.

Yes, I have found it helpful already, even though it is called that the book isn't about feeling great straight away, it's about feeling a little bit better straight away while progressing to how you want to feel over time and doing exercises to help this happen, I feel a lot of what he said made a lot of sense and I haven't even listened to the CD.

Also for what it is worth it has 37 5 star reviews at Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Instant-Conf.../dp/0593055357

Only 2 quid in the marketplace, I paid a tenner at WHSmith

Yeh, I have to say I was a bit cynical when I first picked it up but it does have some very useful techniques in there and he does make a lot of sense.

The simplicity of his words in the book makes it hard not to feel a little bit more positive about certain things.

He really does make it all seem very simple and his explaining of everything is really good.

Might be because I have only just finished the book but as I said he did speak a lot of sense, and it's only a few quid at Amazon, so what do you have to lose?

Do you find going to the gym and excercising helps?

I have his weight loss CD and book, and I found it absolutely amazing for confidence. The only problem I had was that I couldn't get myself in to a routine to do it all - my aim was to exercise each night, as well as listen to the CD and do all the stuff he suggests in the book, and I never had enough time/motivation to do it.

However I was really surprised how much more confident it made me feel - I wasn't expecting that from a weight loss book/CD at all. It was all about feeling happy and confident (and not comfort eating, and feeling 'in control') first off which addresses the emotional side to overeating etc. It made me feel a lot more positive, energetic and I managed to get quite productive! Which to me, is one of my major set backs with SA - I never get anything done.

I must get back in to it once we have moved (at the moment am just living amongst piles of boxes).

Thnx

It is something I am considering, I need to get in shape and exercise is apparently very good for depression.

i've read the book and it does help ...but often the changes are so subtle it's hard to notice the day by day changes. i find best results i need to do the exercises AND listen to the tape.

when i listen to the tape i stick the tape on all night and go to sleep

ever since i was a child i used to suffer from chronic sweating of the hands. about 80% of the day (every day) my hands would be all sweaty ..i used to dread shaking hands with people ..and some folk did used to notice and make off comments.

3 months ago i finally got rid of the chronic sweaty hands that plagued me all my life. well when i say got rid ...i mean on average my hands are probably sweaty about 5% of the time (if that) instead of 80% like before.
i put this change down to that book, i spent alot of effort on it for a few weeks in particular and then my hands just stopped sweating. i still felt nervous/anxious in alot of situations ...but something must have changed inside that i've not noticed because sweaty hands arn't really a problem for me anymore.

it's a good book. the changes can be hard to notice, but i am convinced it has had a positive effect on my life.

I started reading it but could never be bothered to do the exercises - think its cus you have to use your imagination and I haven't got a very good imagination.

I gave up on it, although like you say I did think he spoke a lot of sense.

I preferred change your life in 7 days, but my life didn't change in 7 days, but I suppose I felt a bit more positive.

Best book I've read that I've found useful is Susan Jeffers Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway and the Little Book of Confidence by Susan Jeffers.

How strange that his CDs have not yet given anyone the confidence to usurp his position as the number one purveyor of 'instant confidence' CDs.

I read the book in 2 hours, once I got into it I was really interested in everything he had to say.

Normally I am too, plus my memory isn't that good so I always forget what I read too, but as I say I was interested in everything he had to say so I just kept reading, I surprised myself.
