Hey everyone, forgot to put the email address you need to write to, its: info@sashgroup.org

Booking a place will get you a slightly cheaper ticket of 3 as opposed to 4 on the door.

Hi everyone!

Just a quick reminder that we will be screening 'Nerve' the world's first film about social anxiety disorder, on Friday the 6th of December at 6.45. It will be screened at Cass Business School near London's Old Street station. Please aim to arrive around 6.30. Volunteers from the charity will at hand at the entrance to help you find the room it's being screened in.

If anyone is running late, please feel free to come along anyway - we plan to head to a nearby pub afterwards for an SA-friendly social.

Thanks!

Yeah great idea to start a charity, well done!
I would be happy to b a "buddy" with someone....I would note tho that tho I have suffered for a long time (10yrs+), I definitely have not as severe symptons as some unfortunate sufferers. And although I can see how this may make me seem as a perfect choice as a buddy to someone really in need, I would be worried that I would find myself unable to relate to some symptons (i.e. fear of public eating or writing).....just a thot, but I would definitely be interested as I find speaking to people with SA or even depression as being always of great help to me
p.s. I would b willing to fundraise as well, tho I'v always found this hard to do with SA so might not be great at it :P

Hello everyone! We would like to let you know about a talk that the charity will be holding later this month (January 2014):

Talk on "Nutrition and lifestyle changes to help manage anxiety"

Friday 24th January

Debbie Cotton, naturopath and psychotherapist, will examine some simple lifestyle and dietary changes that are proven to help reduce anxiety.

The talk will cover:

- The physiology of anxiety

- The impact of caffeine, alcohol and recreational drugs on anxiety

- Various dietary models that help in reducing anxiety and the outcomes of related research studies
- Natural supplements, such as nutraceuticals or herbals, that have been researched in anxiety, and their efficacy and scope of use
- The use of green spaces and exercise in managing anxiety

The talk will last 1 hour and will be followed by 30 minutes of Q&A, so you are encouraged to ask questions about the topics discussed.

Debbie is a psychotherapist, nutritional therapist and herbal medicine practitioner. She is interested in simple, researched and safe self-care interventions that can be utilised for people suffering with mental health conditions.

This event is organised jointly by SASH and the Social Anxiety Foundation (the new UK charity dedicated to social anxiety). All ticket sales will go to the charity.

After the talk, join us for a drink and a chat at a local pub.

Location: Cass Business School (106 Bunhill Row, London EC1Y 8TZ)

Talk starts at 6.45pm. Please arrive between 6.30pm and 6.45pm.

Entrance fee: 5 if pre-booked, 6 at the door

THANK YOU!!!!

Have to say that I rarely come on SA-UK and thought this had died a death so good to know that things are still active. Any news on when the website will be up and running?

Hi Seagull, thanks for your message. The website is actively being created now, but its hard to predict when we will be able to launch it as we are still creating content for the website, designing a logo, looking at the layout etc. Hopefully within the next few months - we will keep you posted! By the way, we still need volunteers for writing and research if anyone is still interested. If so, please email us at info@sashgroup.org

Thank you!!

I think a charity for SA sufferers is a great idea. I would be interested to help with the buddy scheme and generally to raise awareness of the condition and also, it would be interesting to think about what kind of support- apart from CBT and tablets- would benefit us.

Hello, will the talk about CBT be recorded? It would be good if the Social Anxiety Foundation had a You Tube Channel where this sort of thing could be put?

Many thanks to all those who attended last night's talk on CBT for SA! I hope you came away with some useful information from Dr Stott's talk.
If you are interested in the CBT research trial he is running (and you live either in Oxford or within the M25), please contact them via this link:
