you have a choice not to let them view your account in your settings on uni job match, but it can affect your benefits if they can't view your account so you don't really have a choice. it's bollocks.

Yes. Don't be mislead by jobcentre staff. Some will heavily imply that it is compulsory to let them view your account. Some will suggest that doing it is in your best interests. It is *not* compulsory and I can't really see how them monitoring you helps anyone but the dwp.

My adviser understands this and is actually quite a nice guy, however I have had to get shirty with a few jobcentre staff over this issue.

I'm guessing that a purely voluntary system probably hasn't caught many fraudsters. I don't let the jobcentre see mine simply because of all the horror stories I've heard about people being unfairly sanctioned. I've nothing to hide, but I don't want to be the next one. And, to be honest, I don't really want to be tracked by any company, institution or governmental department.

Despite my recalcitrant nature ,you have to pick your battles , And I found the whole process of being on JSA a lot less ball-ache( is ballache hyphenated?) when I just jumped through the hoops to keep them happy did my own thing simultaneously.Yes it is a tad orwellian but sometimes the path of least resistance is the best.

^ Yep, I agree. I don't understand why people get so argumentative over the whole thing. They are there to tick boxes, so let 'em tick 'em!
