Default Rosenberg self esteem scale

Your score is 7/30. Scores below 15 indicate low self esteem.

Scored 10/30, thought that my score should have been about 5/30.

I think I might have had a slightly higher score on another occasion.

Meh. Should be lower but feeling i 'have a number of qualities' and that i'm 'able to do things as well/better than others' offsets the score - i still consider myself utterly pathetic deep down.

This test assumes that all people are equally of worth and that anything negative must just be perception rather than fact. So a poor quality person would get a low score even though their self esteem is average.

"I feel that I have a number of good qualities."
Which number 2? 10? 1000?

"I am able to do things as well as most other people."
"Things" is pretty broad, I'm bad at singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, but am I worse than the average? I'm good at testing phones, web design stuff, making gold on WoW, do these cancel out the previous negatives? In these I am better than average compared to the general population, but am I better than the average person who does these same things? Do any of these things matter?

It doesn't seem like a very in-depth test. I think I am fairly average in most respects except for in the ways that I deal with other people. I am probably one of the most useless people in the world at dealing with people. But maybe other people are the only thing that matters. Maybe my inability to relate to people should be the only determinant of my self-esteem.

I wonder what criteria other people are using to determine their self-esteem. It seems to me that a person's self-esteem is entirely a question of perspective.

29/30.
That is testament to an immense amount of work and time being put in to overturn what used to be horrifically low self-esteem. Not that many years ago I would have been in minus figures.

Edit: Well, not quite minus figures going by this test. I just retook the test and answered as I would have done in the past. I got 2/30. I think i got those points because i felt that I did still have something to to be proud of. That being my ability at that point to survive even though my problems were overwhelming.

^ I feel the same, Ajax.

If I had taken this a few years ago or even a couple I'm sure my result would be a lot different.

Even still, I was surprised I got 23. I still struggle with a lot of the things to do with those questions, but I think it's the self-belief that if I were to really apply myself I could do a lot of the things involved, even though I may not be there yet in the actual present. That's ultimately what self-esteem is; believing that you are and you can, even if you are not necessarily in that place right now.

I got 13/30, my self esteem is a bit low, but I guess it's a grounded assessment of my position in life so far.

like Ajax there are things I've worked hard for and am proud of, which is why it isn't a lower score. But fundamentally I still think I'm s***

21/30, which seems surprising but I answered the questions honestly and didn't dig too deep into my mind to uncover any monsters.
