My second day (officially) without a Smartphone

Posted 2nd March 2016 at 19:00 by Amara 94

I know some people, especially older people in their 30+ years would think that I'm making such a big deal out of not having a Smartphone. But for me it is a bit of deal.

Not having a Smartphone has made me feel a bit more anxious, mainly because I imagine others would think I'm crazy for ditching a smartphone and it's one more thing that would make me be seen as a weirdo from most peers.

Additionally I have also started a work skills course that includes about 10-20 other peers who are unemployed and our teachers/coaches have already told us to take picture of homework, I wrote it down though.

Then I have also just realised that some apps are made to just work on the phone, I can't directly upload to Instagram again, have to download a certain programme just to use Whatsapp. Found a youtuber whose charity funding project worked through a mobile app. But then tbh I still go by the belief a smartphone isn't a necessity for most people, why can't there be PC versions of certain apps. It seems pretty stupid that Instagram, which I still like, only allows direct upload through a phone app.

I feel ott for swapping my smartphone for a basic Nokia, but when I remember my reasoning it really doesn't seem like a crazy idea. Now I just need the confidence to defend my opinion that I don't need a Smartphone. I don't know if my coaches would look down on the fact I choose not to have a smartphone, if they asked.
