Rejoining Facebook

Posted 29th July 2015 at 23:22 by amara

So about a month ago I closed down my old Facebook account due to the fact that I had lots of Facebook friends but most of them really didn't feel like friends, I wondered if I was just certain peoples friends so they can boast how many Facebook friends they had. Secondly I found Facebook a waste of time, I was just reading and viewing other people's lives while doing nothing in mines.

Now that I rejoined yesterday, I have decided that I am only adding people that have been friends or either supported me, I don't really care about the number of friends I have. But as I had to take an updated photo of myself I have been reminded of how plain my life is. I'm not used to taking selfies and fear that I'm ugly, I wish I could just take selfies when I wanted too, express myself, not just come across socially awkward, this is annoying. I wish I actually went places and had places to go so I could actually take interesting photos.

Quite recently this thought has be running around in my head "If I don't do anything about my anxiety and awkwardness I am going to regret life, miss out on dating, miss out on enjoying things I'm interested in." I think I really have to tackle this anxiety but then it feels so hard and painful.

I do agree with you do your best to tackle it but you should certainly want to do interesting things for your self and your enjoyment/development as a human. Not for a selfie, I certainly am more likely to engage with somebody if I know they have done something interesting and havent blurted it out all over social media with pics of themselves doing it.

You seem far more interesting than the faceplant folks not even noticing the view because they are staring at an iphone checking their lips are puckered enough for the photo.

It sounds like you want to post stuff to get noticed by them and I guess that may be the best way.

I only communicate on facebook with people I know in real life, and even then I ignore the stream of "look at me doing xxxxxx" and just pick up on genuine posts about lives and what people are doing.
