Quote Meaning?
What does this quote mean - I've grown fond of it but just don't know the meaning of it.
What is the difference between “i like you†and “i love you.†beautifully answered by Buddha: “when you like a flower, you just pluck it. but when you love a flower, you water it daily.†one who understands this, understands life. |

Re: Quote Meaning?
It seems to be about loving people in an unselfish way. Not using them or trying to make them what you want them to be. Being thoughtful and kind.

Re: Quote Meaning?
As I understand it, for someone like the Buddha,
he IS the flower, there is no longer any distinction or separation of me, you, they,.. it is all one organic whole for him So, to pluck a flower,..to kill it, is akin to harming himself, to harm life. They say that his self or ego disappeared, so he became everything, or everything became him, there was no longer any barriers, divisions or distinctions to life. To then harm another is to harm himself, in a sense, So all he can do, and inspire to do, is to heal and to help growth of life wherever he finds it. |
