Default High IQ groups

One thing I'm finding about high IQ groups is the surprising number of people into conspiracy theories , and the exhibiting of clinical/subclinical levels of paranoia.

Interesting, I wonder why that is.

High IQ doesn't necessarily correlate with good judgment.

^^ A very good question. Perhaps there's a point where pushing the envelope mentally morphs into psychotic like thinking.

^ I'm not sure that believing in conspiracy theories equates to psychotic like thinking (depending on what they are!) but maybe particular types of people with high IQs are more open to ideas that are somewhat outside the norm?

There are conspiracy theories that have proved true and others that are clearly a load of ridiculous nonsense, so it really depends on what a person is choosing to believe.

^ That's very interesting. I suppose a tendency towards paranoia might go along with a willingness to believe in conspiracy theories that have very little evidence.

But how are they measuring IQ? Does that include emotional intelligence? Plenty of brilliant people have massive limitations in other areas (no empathy, no humour, no sense of irony, no aesthetic sense, etc).

A lot of measuring is being done by untimed high range IQ tests that measure IQ from 120 or so upwards. They are, to say the least, controversial with a good number of people highly sceptical about them.
