Default What are you grateful for?

What is at least one thing you are grateful for in your life right now? Anything at all, no matter how big or small, especially if you consider how bad the other side of it might be?

For me, I'll say I'm just happy to have a roof over my head. It's not a palace, barely serviceable, sharing with people I could do without in all honesty and only just a level above a garden shed but it's better than nothing. Can you imagine being homeless, especially with this weather as it is right now?

Glass half full, not empty.

What about you?

^ I feel the same, I'm grateful to have a safe place to live and a warm bed to sleep in. Too many people don't even have that.

Not living in a warzone, roof over head and all that stuff, family, settling down still possible in spite of poor economic performance, feeling a tiny bit less shit about myself because arguably have an undiagnosed disability, not being that prone to obesity, could probably keep going if I thought about it.

Exactly!!! That said, I do want to at some point volunteer for a homeless charity or something. I really feel for them and would like to help do something, or at least find out the common reasons as to why it happens. I could guess but it's better coming from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

I'll be honest, I have little to no faith in any of the so-called political parties, but especially the Tories. Them, I'm definitely not grateful for.

Or rather, I'm grateful for being able to, by some miracle, be able to hold it all together somehow in a Tory-governed Britain.

That's the spirit! And thanks for reminding me that I haven't had bread pudding for years now. I can't explain it but it might just be time to play catch up.

Especially the first one, although these days, who knows what's around the corner with Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, etc.

The Big Issue is a good source of information about homelessness, also buying the magazine directly helps homeless people. At the back of every issue they have a "featured vendor" who gives an interview about their life, how they became homeless and how being a Big Issue seller has helped them. The founder of the magazine John Bird was homeless himself and now he's a lord in the house of lords

Yeah, good point. Can't believe I forgot about 'The Big Issue'. Barely seen anyone selling it anymore, then again I haven't been beyond North London too much recently. Will look into that, thanks.

Freedom is another one. That was a big one for me growing up., I shall write about it when I do my magnum opus which will be tightly edited and the snark will be removed.

^^^ Big Issue is £4.50 now. Inflation is rife.

The seller I bought from couldn't get the 50p change from his pocket ( I didn't want it anyway) because his hands were so cold, so I gave him my gloves as well.

^^ IIRC the Christmas edition is usually more expensive.

Today I am grateful for family and hotel breakfasts.

I think it's usually £4 now, it does cost more at Christmas as A_L says. That was really nice of you to give the seller your gloves. They do have a website as well for anyone who can't buy the magazine or doesn't have a local seller.

Yeah, it is the Christmas edition.

It has Noddy holder on the front cover.

Wait. How much are they usually? Good of you to give him your gloves.

I saw this comment after my last one
I'll probably look on the website then because I haven't seen a Big Issue in ages.

I'll also add that I'm grateful for food, especially as someone who really loves his food, and being able to afford to eat everyday and even have the luxury of choosing to eat once a day every other day.
