Attempting to sharpen a drawing pencil with a razor blade. This has been a complete disaster, but it's how it's meant to be done.

I know, it's absolutely riveting Best thing is, I don't think I've ever had an appointment there that lasted longer than ten minutes. They don't know what to do with mental people.

Mine used to last only about 10 minutes as well, and most of that time she was talking about her holiday or the time she went fishing and didn't kill the fish properly

Back already.

Avanta adviser: "Hello, Lee."

Me: "Hi there."

Avanta adviser: "So, Lee, what have you been doing recently? Have you been looking for work?"

Me: "Erm, no, I'm on ESA and have been since the beginning of this year" (I have told them this so many times!). "I'm under the care of my GP and am taking medication for depression and social anxiety issues."

Avanta adviser: "Oh I see. I'll see if I can find a course to put you on to help you get ready for employment."

Me: "I need you to know that on the last course I struggled very badly being in a room full of people due to my social anxiety."

Avanta adviser: "Why was that?"

Me: "Because I have severe social anxiety."

Avanta adviser: "Oh well, just tell the course leader about your problems at the beginning of the course."

Me: "OK."

Avanta adviser: "I'm not sure when the course will start because everything is a bit up in the air at the moment, we will contact you by letter when the course is available" (what they really mean is that their system is in total chaos).

Me : "OK."

Avanta adviser: "OK, Lee, you can go now. "

Me: "OK, bye."

At least it's over with quickly.
They sent my son on a 2 week basic computing course. He reminded them about his degree in computer science but they said he still had to go

Yeah, it's just a case of them sending people on things so it looks like they're doing something to their superiors and the Government who are paying them to have you there. On my last course there were people there who had been on the same course three times. Even the course leader had very little good to say about Avanta. I have to say, the course leader was very understanding about my issues, though. Told me I wouldn't have to take part in any role-play and I could leave the room if I needed to. She even brought a flask of coffee for us. Bless her.

Being mystified.

Last night, Dad said to me that he'll be out for the evening and won't be back until the following morning. I've been contenting myself with this news the whole day.. until now, cos he's just come back in from the rain with some fire wood

Why is he bringing in firewood when he's supposed to be buggering off later???

("Hot date")

Meh, he wouldn't prepare it for me a) cos he wouldn't, and b) cos i don't suffer cold that much (and he has already made reference to that earlier today).

He's showering atm, so perhaps he is still going out *fingers crossed*

About to watch a film; Downfall on bbc4. Really good film, quite a shame that its in german with subtitles but I can deal with that and it also makes it seem more real.
