Limey!!!!!

I just wanted to congratulate you on the new job! I'm really happy for you! I hope it goes well!

Oh and I haven't forgotten that promise of a chess game with you. Although I still can't give you an exact date yet. But when it does happen, you can be sure that it will involve a lot of chess! We are talking Morning, Noon and Night of Chess!

Anyway, congratulations again! And I hope you're doing ok!

^ Cor, thanks, Mr. Chess! I really appreciate your good wishes. And yes, we must do some power-chessing some time! But I suspect you will stomp all over me, no?

I think it would usually be unlikely that nobody at work likes someone, unless they are an exceptionally cliquey and unpleasant group of people. If we feel ''paranoid'' that nobody likes us, it could become a self fulfilling prophecy type thing, but not necessarily. I think cliques are usually not that ''bad'' except for sometimes at school... If the work place is horrible, I hope a job change would be possible.

I've been analysing a few things lately.... human behaviour for example.

I'm going to be honest with you Limey, my skill level isn't that great. So much so, that if I was a wine grape, then it is you who would be doing all of the stomping right now. You could easily turn me into a Merlot is what I'm trying to convey. Vintage Chess&Junkfood would probably be on my wine label. I'm sure I would have a delightful aroma as well. Possibly a fruity one

I'm not sure where I'm going with this Limey? Let's get back on track

There was a time when I used to play a lot of bullet chess. Where my skill level wasn't too shabby. Probably in the 1500 range. Then I decided to start playing 10 minute chess games. It was then that my derriere was handed to me on a regular basis. I then decided to compete with players with a 1200'ish rating. But again, my derriere was constantly being handed back to me. At which point, I decided to swallow my pride (not literally of course) and compete with players in the bowels of the chess rating world. We are talking in the range of 800'ish here Limey. And I have to say, I barely had any derriere left at that point

Jesus!!!!!

I've just remembered something!

Genovese???????!

God damn! I've been chatting with Limey for over 10 minutes and here I am out in the open. Anything could have happened!

I've also got you a Ploughman's Lunch:

Sorry about that Limey. Yes, so as I was saying, my skill rating needs a lot of improvement

Anyway, I need to get moving Limey. Great chatting with you again! And I look forward to the day when you can turn me into a Beaujolais

Genovese?

I think I should be ok now. But just in case, could please keep that rubber chicken of yours inflated for me

^ Looks like an illustration of my Friday night.

Well I've completed the first week of my new job. Trying hard at being interested in the work, and trying to show interest in the people.

^ Aw, thanks very much. The place has a nice culture. On my first day the owner's Dad came in the office and said he hopes I really enjoy my time there :-)

No sign of the top dog, though. I’ve seen several deliveries to the firm from Cesar lorries, not sure what that’s about. Must be for one of the adjacent businesses in the office park.

Struggling a bit with a whats the point attitude today. There isn't a great deal for me to do here this week, going by the diary. Things do tend to pop up though so see how it goes. It does make me doubt and think that Winter is gonna be difficult here

Somehow just passed the online test for a job I am applying to.

The strange bit is that the test was really hard and I ended up sort of giving up/making my best guess/staring out of the window at the neighbour's cat/seeing how long I could hold the pen in my mouth with just my upper lip.

It was so hard that I decided to cut my losses and submit my answers, assuming I need to do some more studying before I apply to another job like that. (I'm trying to career change).

But yeah, apparently I've passed and I can't help but feel that either I'm a very good guesser or their online test isn't fit for purpose.

Turns out I have Covid-19. So far it hasn't been terrible even though I'm in the 'at risk' category. The muscle aches have been rather 'special' though.
