The Whale - 3/10. I couldn't understand the hype it got at all. Yes, it's a very convincing fat suit, but a two hour film can't get by on that alone. The rest is mostly very boring and directed like a TV show. A very disappointing effort by Aronofsky considering it's his first film since Mother!.

^don't like dubbed films as the sounds always a bit off, also I know it's depicting war but it should come with a free link to the samaritans website it's seriously depressing.

It's only dubbed if you choose to watch it dubbed. Netflix remembers your preferences from however you watched something previously, but the intended way is always original language with subtitles.

Fall

5/10 It's okay. It's a long film for what it is. I'm halfway and tempted just to read the rest of the plot. What's bugging me is how casual the two of them are, there isn't much of a sense of peril. Also, they mention how hot it is but climb the tower with no gloves, then at nightfall nothings mentioned about cold, which it would surely be... ? Oh no, a bit of plot has just been revealed .... It's gone a bit Hollyoaks with adrenaline nuts.

Chicago - 8/10

Absolutely loved it, even if the random singing and dancing made no sense í*¾í´£. Fav songs are cell block tango and all that jazz

I watched Showgirls for the first time last night and actually quite enjoyed it, and not just because of the industrial amounts of tit. So over the top and grotty, with sex scenes like something out of The Exorcist. One major criticism though...

To think, it wasn't even the most sordid thing one of the Saved by the Bell crew did. Screech made his own sex tape

Infinity Pool (2023) - I didn't know anything at all about this before watching it and don't really want to spoil it by saying anything here. It's very good though. Basically it starts like a very tense White Lotus and then goes somewhere different. 9/10

I watched this yesterday and you're right.

At least it was funny though - I laughed out loud when the twist was revealed, and a couple of times during their attempts at getting help. It felt like the director/writer knew exactly what he was doing when he created a scenario where the best idea the two young women could come up with very early on involved them taking off their shoes, socks and bras. Still, at least he's not as explicit about the foot stuff as the Duffer brothers.

^ haha, yeah. I won't complain about the many gratuitous cleavage shots.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent - this was a lot funnier than I would have expected, Nick Cage is a good sport.

Everything Everywhere All At Once

Watched this film tonight and really enjoyed it. It's very fast moving and didn't feel like a 2 hour plus film. I love the concept of a multi-universe so this was right up my alley and I shall watch it again to take it all in as there's a lot of detailed symbolism amongst the chaos.

I like the idea of lots of other versions of me existing elsewhere and it's nice to think that at least one of them might have accomplished something

Recently watched All Quiet on the Western Front, and The Stranger. Both were really good, and now I'm nervous about my next choice. Don't want to spoil a potential good film hat trick.

Sean Harris is so good at playing unsettling oddballs. Tempted to rewatch Possum...

Creed 3.

The film was formulaic as hell, basically a cut and paste of every Rocky/Creed film before it. But despite that, it was done well and I enjoyed it. At this point I don't care, I'm a slave to the Rocky franchise and will blindly follow it where ever it takes me.

Jonathan Majors is class, I'm really excited to see him in more stuff in the future.

Blimey, 24yrs old. Still plenty good. Shame about Spacey, etc.

This got me good. You need context but it's funny.

Fight Club

Where is my own version of Tyler Durden? I desperately need this in my life.

I've seen this long before. I've got it on but i'm not really watching it - i think it's a 7/10 though.

John Wick 4. It's utterly and completely ridiculous but as a pure suspension of belief movie, it's absolutely amazing!

John Wick 4

Haha golly gosh. Three hours of fightin' n shootin' and an almost unlimited supply of requisite Eastern bloc, Japanese & American baddies. It's a John Wick film so yes, the script seems it's written by a 16 year old schoolboy and the acting is gcse Drama level at best, so as MissKatie said, suspend all belief and logic & enjoy the ride.
It's dark, very dark. It's like they built the sets, lit it, and then the director said "Ok turn off 90% of the lights... Action"
The soundtrack is outrageous. I can't imagine it being any where near as good a watch on a home setup. It's worth a cinema visit for the soundtrack alone!

The popcorn storage room was open

If I was 10 seeing it would have made my year

Nope.

Incomprehensible in places. The sort of film where it helps to have read the plot synopsis on IMDB.
