Default Old timer returning

I was known as carnan. I remember being brought here by an online friend who I don't know if she still uses this place. Strange to think I met her online nearly 20 years ago. I often wonder how everyone else is doing from this place and the old sa scot crowd. I hope you are all doing okay.

Hi to everyone else too. I know forums aren't fashionable these days in times of instant social platforms but I like them.

kind regards to you all,
carnan.

Hi there Intheshadows. I am glad you have come back and hope you find SA UK useful again. I, too, sometimes wonder about the 2003 onwards cohort both here and at SA Scot. I am lucky to have rose-tinted glasses and remember mainly nice meets and chats at Cafe Mono rather than hospital stays and my mistakes in personal relations.

You were wondering how some of the old regulars are doing, I am still in the housing association flat I moved to in 2015 and am very glad to have it, as people seem to really struggle to find rental accomodation in Glasgow these days, even working people. Am still quite disabled and unable to work, social anxiety is about the same but I do sometimes go to a general mental health support group - am not aware of any SA meets any more in Glasgow. Had two manic episodes last year but kept out of hospital, not so much havering nonsense and no falling out with people, the main hangover was spending all my money and getting into about £800 of credit card debt. Thankfully I am on the right (higher) dose of antipsychotic now so fingers crossed for a period of "boring stability" this year.

I don't go to concerts any more and rarely films, my main pastimes are audiobooks, going to neighbourhood cafes, and having a good blether with people using Discord software. In short, things could be better and they could be worse, I hope things are going okay for you. Mostly I just feel old when I look in the mirror hehe, 20 years flew by in an instant.

Thanks for posting today and I hope a few others from the old days will see your post and reply too.

Welcome back to the site intheshadows
Hope you are doing okay,
Yes, I do recall meeting you at a couple of meets back in the day,

Hope you are still in touch with your online friend who introduced you to the site,

I'm afraid not many of the old crowd seem to post here any more,

Confusingly, there is someone on the members list here called Starla,.. but it isn't your old online friend oddly enough.

Hope coming here is of some help to you.

Thanks everyone for the kind replies.

@Aurorasky... there is a lot to be said for 'boring stability' I think as we get older we can appreciate it a bit more, I certainly can. I have also not been out much to concerts...i think its a bit of post pandemic anxiety but also financially...tickets seem really expensive. I do have one concert booked for glasgow in summer but that's it.

@Mr. Nobody...I do keep in touch with the SA Scot Starla...I dont think she comes on here anymore. Do you hear from Fausto at all? Hope you are doing okay?

Fausto did get in touch a while ago,
Unfortunately I'm afraid we didn't stay in touch for long,
I think he said he was attending SA meets in Edinburgh through Meetup.com,
It's too easy to drift apart when you have SA,

I tend to get caught up in the stresses of the workplace and forget to look after myself and focus on personal relationships,
Instead of getting caught up in workplace anxieties.

I did hear that Ilda returned lately for a short reunion visit to Scotland a few months ago now,

I think a few of the Edinburgh group still stay in touch.

I've met up with sullen-skink a few times,
but I tend to kind of hunker down during the winter months,
Not really venturing out much till the weather changes.

How are you getting on?
Are you still in nursing?
How is your son getting on?

Welcome back to the site Carnan! I came back to the forums as well a few months ago after a very long break, 10 or more years.

I like forums as well because it's easier to keep in contact than it is on, say, Twitter.

Pretty wild to think I was on here way back on 2001.
That's was a lifetime ago and I'm nearly 40 now!

Welcome back OP
