35 here.
I'm sat in front of the fan but all it's doing is blowing hot air at me!

^ You win!

You can try and angle it from somewhere where there's cooler air to blow that towards you. Or I have heard that you can put an ice cube tray Infront of a fan to blow cold air, but I'm not sure how well that works....

Saw a great cooling HACK online...

Take your fan and put it behind an air conditioning unit. Switch both on and voila! Nice cool room!

It's been around 34-37 where i've been working.

25.7 in my shuttered flat. I think the shuttering/baton down the hatches method of heat repellent is best shown at high temps. I think it only has a small effect below, say, 28-30c.

^^Near la rochelle france on holiday, added bonus car Air conditioning packed up yesterday . Inside the place we're staying at it isn't too bad, they're quite well organised for hot weather. White building, window shutters etc.

^ thanks, not too worried about air con. Temps are supposed to drop down to 25 tomorrow. We've just been getting everything done before mid day then hiding inside with frozen water bottles being used like hot water bottles.

It thankfully isn't as bad as other places here, it got to 35 I think? But I'm having to stay inside with the ac just to be on the safe side. Glad my husband bought the portable ac last year. It gets super hot in his room otherwise.

So i've just checked - i don't know how, but it's now 27.4... and it's almost midnight. I've had all the windows open since half eight.

Glad this is pissing off soon.

Still saying it's going to be 40 here today, will be doing a tour of air conditioned places I think. I did find the woods pleasant yesterday morning, nature's air conditioning.

^ Oof, that must be uncomfortable! I just read that it's hit 40 somewhere around London I think.
It's 34 again here and that's quite enough for me!

North Essex. Went for a walk at two (out of curiosity), and man was it hot. Oh Jesus, even in the shade it felt like someone was blasting a hairdryer in my face. I actually felt dizzy when I got back home.

It reached 40 here. When I was driving home from work part of the road had melted!

There are wild fires in London now as well

It's the fires all around the world that are really scary right now.

Ooh no, that was ambitious of you! I don't think it's going to be bearable to be outside until the evening.

As the weather is so hot I asked the Hermes delivery driver if he'd like a bottle of cold water.
When he said yes I dropkicked it over a fence into my neighbour's rose bush and told him I'd left it in a designated safe space.

^ Rewilding is all well and good but where are we going to produce our food?
Every day massive corporations are buying hundreds of acres of productive farm land to plant trees in order to offset the carbon they produce instead of actually working to reduce their emissions.

The invasion of Ukraine has already proved that we are too reliant on imported food and the more ground we cover with trees the less we can produce for ourselves.

Rant over.

^ There are some "shops" in the UK where they sell food that's gone past it's best before date for greatly reduced prices, and apps like Olio that advertise out of date food that's being given away.

So hot again. Right now there's a storm moving in? The winds picked up and you can see rain over the hills. Wouldn't mind rain here.

I was lucky that when I went to get my bag from my car there were a few (albeit measly) spots of rain.

Today I haven't felt overheated until this very moment where I have placed myself down into bed. I think it's because the bathroom was a little bit steamy, so I'm guessing once I've recovered from that exposure I'll cool down again.

Same here. At times, I was almost in tears during that heatwave (it’s still really humid and horrible in Essex even now). I hate the heat beyond words.
