^ Where I live, no. I'm at the top of a hill in Derbyshire, so the potential for flooding is almost non-existent (except through blocked and overflowing drains), although there are a couple of places nearby where fields don't drain properly and it can cause very localised flooding on the road.

The yellow weather warning for Argyll and Bute (where I was staying until yesterday morning) has now been upgraded to amber, with train services suspended and the road on which I left (A83) closed; things can always be worse! It seems the warning for the Lakes has been removed, although heavy rain is still forecast (I've adjusted my itinerary for the day accordingly and tomorrow I'm heading south (into Wales), so I may see some of this heatwave everybody's talking about.

It really was mad. It’s OCTOBER, my car said 25C, everyone was treating it as a summer’s day. 100s of cars passing, music blasting out the window, everyone in t-shirt and shorts.

@greg - enjoy your time in Wales. Sounds like you have to pack for all weathers!

I'm sitting in the garden with my cat and a spider.

Lucky You's sitting in the garden.

Up here it is only 17/18c and it has been raining, normal the north gets usual weather and the media think it's a heatwave because its warm down south. They forget that most of the country is above Watford Gap!

I'm only in Wales for one night - these three days are the link between a week (Monday to Friday) in Scotland and another in the Isle of Wight. As for packing, I have the luxury of driving (and having no passengers), so I have virtually emptied my wardrobe.

oh right, I did research on sunscreen in October. UV levels are moderate, so it does seem it's wise to wear it.

lol too right. I think there's something called El Nino and I think that's the reason it's a warmer October.

The last week of sun and this is part of the final harvest of 2023.
Completely beyond my expectations, so I'm happy.
Of course it's now gonna be salad for the next few days at least.

I think this may be the last 'warm' day of the year, before most of us are dressing for Winter. I probably should run the heating to see whether it's functioning okay...

It was gorgeous this afternoon. Now it's hammering it down. I had to wrap my work in my raincoat to protect it and so I got drenched haha.

I'm finding the warm and sunny days so lovely. When it's suddenly gets dark and cold I'm dreading my mood dipping down low :/

^ eeek! It's been a drizzy mizzy few days. I guess it's good for the frogs and worms though!

A massive - eyeball sized - bumble bee flew into my window yesterday. Looking for a fellow sun lover.

I couldn't decide whether to take my car to get me home or if I needed to go by kayak to get home! The roads are horrendous today! Really scary conditions to drive in!

^ Been under an amber weather warning here for two days, although today's been just drizzle (yesterday was constant heavy rain though), but it could be worse, as it has been not that far north of here and especially in North East Scotland. Anyway, it's definitely Autumn in these parts.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not (quite) old enough to be missing Hitler, but we haven't exactly been short of despotic and genocidal leaders since then.

I've not been sleeping very well because it feels so warm at night. My cats are also choosing to stay out for the night as well.

Someone from dahn sarf contacted me this morning, to ask how I was coping with the flooding and I had to go looking for news reports; it seems that I am surrounded by devastation and flooding (the closest place seems to be Tapton in Chesterfield, about eight miles from me - closer as the crow flies) but (heeding yesterday's weather warning and staying at home) I was totally oblivious to it all. I live on the top of a hill and a fair distance from a river or canal, so it took someone 150 miles away to tell me what was happening nearby.

It's right warm here. I've been sat outside having a coffee and no shivers came from within.
