^If it was me I would have put it down to hormones.

Did you sleep enough last night?
Maybe the humdrum routine of life...

^^^ I've been having the same thoughts Tembo. It's a bit scary it'd be a shame for enjoyable socialising like that to be taken away

^^ Actually, my hormones are a little suspect and have been for most of the year, hence why i took some blood tests a few months back. If i had the motivation i'd pursue it further down the line because nothing came up in the results and it's been left at that. My sleep has been off for the past couple of weeks - don't know why. I'm packing in the booze for a while to see how things go, lay off caffeine a little.

Headache. I've taken the day off. There wasn't anything planned for me anyway.

^A day's rest will do you good. Would the headache be linked to yesterday's low mood?

How do you normally get rid of a headache? I am lucky I never get them, but my brother gets migraines and the only thing that helps him is resting in a dark room.

I'm feeling anxious as my kids are going back to school tomorrow.

Yeah, hopefully. No good going in with little to do and feeling rubbish. I told them i'd be on call if anything important needs doing. I don't usually get headaches. I thought it would fade away by now, putting it down to a disturbed sleep, but it's still there. It's only mild - it's not stopping me from doing anything.

Are you feeling anxious about... the school run? Having them ready?

^^My oldest son starts secondary school, so it's a big change. I'm anxious for everything to go well for him. But I've got to get used to a new setting, with new parents and new routine as well.

On a positive note, we met the class tutor before the summer holiday and he seemed approachable. He also looks like David Tennant That makes it a bit easier if I have to contact him about my son.

Hope you feel better soon Spud

Ooh, scary new stuff. Yeah, i'd be feeling the same as you. Is he okay about it all? Can't you meetup with any of his friends parents from the previous school?

Thanks, Clumsy.

Thanks for asking <3

^ The things I know, spud. The things I know. The things I wish I didn't know, tbh!

You limited PMs on December 18th 2019 because people kept PMing you to ask where their parcels are.

Thanks for a Spud and Biscuit exclusive, Dean. I'll check it now.

I wish something gave me enthusiasm for life, as I have none.

@Biscuits @RocketSpud thank you, you lovely people

My son is an anxious child with difficulty making friends, just like me. He was very stressed when I collected him yesterday from his first day. Said he got lost and it took him forever to find a classroom he was supposed to go to. He perked up though after having a good snack. And I found out he hadn't drunk anything the whole day

We spent the evening studying the map of the school and this morning he was quite excited to go back, so yesterday can't have been too bad.

I'm hoping he will ride out this transition phase with no major trauma, but I know with our anxiety brains it's bound to be tricky.

^ Can he take a small bottle of drink in his backpack with him? (Do kids still use backpacks to take to school!) It's a big transition to secondary school but I hope your son can settle down ok.

^I sent him with a bottle of water and a small carton of juice for in his packed lunch but they were intact when he came back. He also barely touched his sandwich. I think he forgot to eat and drink due to stress.

I explained to him yesterday that if he doesn't drink or eat properly, it's going to affect his energy levels and mood.

The fact that he got lost indicates to me that he was too shy to ask for help or to tag along other kids.

I'll see if its better today.

But yeah you're right. It's a monster of a transition.

Thanks Dougella

^ has something happened?

^^ I guess he's so used to having drink breaks in primary school; it's an adjustment in self-care to think to have a drink without being reminded! I do that as an adult, suddenly realise I haven't had a drink of water for most of the day - especially if I'm busy.

Maybe he can invite a friend from his tutor group round for dinner or a homework session with snacks. It might help him buddy up with someone and they can walk to lessons etc.

He'll be a pro at it all come week three.

Worn out.

I'm also at a conference thingy away from home for most of next week. Vaguely apprehensive about the in-person socialising with people I've spent very little time with in the real world.
