God. I have done so much sleeping and yet i still feel exhasted/sleepy and foggy headed. Thank god I was only working till 1pm today. Ended up sleeping the afternoon away
I wonder if this is a glimpse into what the menopause might be like?
I went round Sainsburys at 5.30pm wondering what I went in for
Might ask to get my hormones checked as this seems to becoming the new norm every month for 2/3 days.

I have to say I am enjoying being on the type of pill where you have no periods, so much less stress and bother. The (peri) menopause doesn't sound like any fun either! Why do we have to go through all this nonsense.

Do you ever choose to have them now and then? I found that skipping too many in a row would cause some side effects and have heard similar from others. I've found the best compromise is having about one in every four for me.

I got called in for an unnecessary appointment with the GP a couple of months ago where they wouldn't explain what it was for. When I got there she just gave me a pamphlet about how it's safe to skip periods on this pill despite them previously stating that it wasn't, even though I told her a few years ago that it was in the news (and she hadn't even been aware at the time) and we'd spoken several times since then about how I skip most

^ I haven't so far and I wasn't told I needed to when I started on it. I'd be a bit worried about messing up the contraceptive effectiveness of it I think!

They obviously don't keep good records

Oh, maybe we're on a different type then... mine's Rigevidon/combined pill - you either take it continuously (and have no periods) or have a week off between packs where you have your period. They previously advised to always have a week off and only recently started admitting you can either take a break or not and it doesn't matter and it makes no difference in terms of health or effectiveness of the contraception.

^ Ah yes I used to be on a kind like that, but now I'm on the mini pill which is progesterone only (I think) and is designed to be taken continually. It doesn't always stop periods completely, but for many women it does.

I was sitting in a cafe and my abdomen suddenly cramped up and I had to go back home. I haven’t had pains like this for a long time. My period hasn’t started yet. Every now and then I get awful cramps before it even starts.

I have period pain and feel like I could throw up. I'm not after sympathy, I just wanted to vent! The menopause can't come soon enough tbh.

I like the look of your cure, I seem to see off my own body weight in chocolate. Weirdly that seems to be more and more each time
I hope you're feeling a bit better today.

I used to have terrible period pain for years. I was put on letrozole for a while after breast cancer which put me into early menopause.
To be honest I do miss my periods now...there was something comforting about having them even though I hated them!
If anyone is approaching menopause and is considering HRT I would swear against it because Im convinced this is what caused my breast cancer. I know its been researched etc but the amount of people who I have spoken to who were fine until....
I went on the patches and as my cancer is HER2 positive Im convinced the surge of artificial hormones screwed up my DNA.

^ Oh really, i do know people who have had very positive experiences of using HRT. I wonder if it can depend on your family history, genes etc?

Yes my mum was on HRT for over 12 years...no problems...she felt great. I just think its what caused my cancer but I could be wrong of course...then I spoke to 2 other women who had breast cancer after using HRT patches.
For me I feel that the menopause is a natural occurance. Hormone levels drop as you come to the end of your child bearing years. HRT interveres with that process.
My periods had become eratic, and I was moody so I went on it, but deeply regret it now! If only we knew what the future holds!

^ I guess it depends on a lot of factors, some women get debilitating symtoms while going through menopause and HRT allows them to get on with things and get their quality of life back. But then I know some women are advised against taking it because their risks of cancer are higher. So I suppose everyone has to weigh up the pros and cons and talk to their doctor.

I wasn't sure about HRT but I looked briefly at the research and it seemed that the increased risk was minute and I thought I'd go for it.

I got a surprise period last night. Normally I can tell that it's on the way but it just appeared out of nowhere. It seems quite chilled for once, although my abdomen has ballooned this evening.

Need cake.
