Default What do you use the forum for?

What are your reasons for being here?
Company?
To hear about others with similar issues?
Some kind of therapy?
To get advice?
For a laugh?
Nothing better to do?
Just lurking?
Other?

I have used it for pretty much everything I can use it for, tbh.

Nowadays, mostly it's just either for something to do, or to read about people's issues/feel can relate.

Those two, although there's other sites I can go to for company.

I did initially come here to hear about people with similar issues, but now I know those people exist, it's not a reason I come here anymore. If anything, my focus has shifted towards finding those people in real life situations! It feels like most people here know one other person with, at least an unusual level of shyness, even if it isn't quite of SA proportions. I don't.

As for therapy and advice, it's similar to the above. I'm now aware of stuff like CBT, mindfulness and exposure, so I can't use the excuse of not knowing what to do to tackle my SA. I've just got to do it now really...which I put off doing, by coming here for company instead!

Originally I came here for the following;

Company,
To hear about others with similar issues,
To get advice
The meet section/potential to make friends/connexions

These days it's more because i've got nothing better to do, through boredom mostly and also habbit. Having a lack of routine and nothing else to do really is what brings me back posting and I find myself posting for the sake of posting mostly.

Honestly don't know. I come here when I'm struggling basically. I guess it's to be amongst people with similar issues, because in the real world everybody seems to be 'Mr. Outgoing and Fun.' It's kind of nice to know people with SA exist, even if they seem to be across the other side of the country.

Originally like a few others have said all ready it was to be able to relate others feeling how I did and trying to get an understanding of myself.

Then it was for company/ attempt at friends, which vaguely worked at best (but suppose should have expected that, as same story wherever I go).

Now it's out of habit, too much time and similar. Though can be be some good posts/ entertainment to had or negative ones to try and help out in.

Depends on my mood.
Initially I came here for advice and to discuss issues with like-minded people.
Mostly I come here now for the company/social aspects, but occasionally also for advice and also sometimes to try and offer support to others when I am feeling in one of my more positive frames of mind (rare).
I also come here as a kind of diary for how I am feeling - I sometimes look back at posts I made in the past to see whether I am doing better/worse now.
Sometimes I have no idea at all why I come here.

In essence what I'm looking for is the meaning of life. In the scheme of things I can feel quite insignificant but I guess what I'm really searching for is a grain of sand in a tea-cup, the hole inside a donut, the yin and yang of AFL football and who will win the most bronze medals at the next Olympics. Enid Blyton was right but I can't quite remember what she said that was so important. Something about big ears.

It's nice to be able to talk to people who understand my problems more than most people.

To hear about others with similar issues?
Yep

Some kind of therapy?
I wouldn't say this site is therapy imo.

To get advice?
Yeah, of cause

For a laugh?
Not really

Nothing better to do?

Just lurking?
