About the number of everyday German compound words that contain the word 'zeug' (meaning 'gear', stuff or 'things'), and how fantastic the literal translations are. I was aware of 'flugzeug' (airplane, or literally flight-gear), but there's also spielzeug (toy, literally pretend/play-gear), werkzeug (tool, literally work-gear), feuerzeug (lighter, literally fire-gear), schlagzeug (drums, literally strike/beat-gear), sexspielzeug (you can probably guess), and it goes on... The pretty logic of it almost makes up for the impossible to learn grammatical gendering.

i just learned that when you use the air pressure tyre machine thingy at the garage it takes away air as well as gives out air. If your tyre has too much, it sucks it back out. I was a bit amazed by that!!! Sad arent I?

^^ Yeah the fancy modern ones try to set the pressure to what you want. Still, I used to work at a garage and the damn thing seemed to break and deflate people's tyres a lot.
