I think it would be abnormal not to.

Absolutely normal. My likes and dislikes have changed a lot over the years. I like lots of things now that I never used to care about at all. The only thing I loathed when young that I still loathe today is horse racing and the bookies.

I think the more life experience we have, the more we are likely to change. It's all part of our growth and development.

PS, I agree with AnathamA. It would be more abnormal not to change and grow through our life experience.

If you've changed a lot, and that's abnormal, can you live with that?

Some people are very resistant to change, though. I notice this in quite insular communities where conformity is the order of the day. Maybe this helps close people down to change. In some communities or social circles change is maybe frowned upon, so everyone goes along with the way it's always been. I notice how some people acknowledge that they are changing and growing, but feel they cannot do it fully in their area or social circle. They may then move away and flourish elsewhere.

Funny enough, I noticed this when I trained in counselling. If you really engage in the training you can change a lot. Thing is, some people on counselling courses can end up changing so much that they grow out of relationships and/or friendships they are in and may have been in for years. Significant others can struggle to keep up with the rapid change and can be threatened by it.

Maybe you are simply more open to the change in your life than others around you are to change in their's?

How awful it`d be if people didn`t change as they got older,be odd too if everything we experience didn`t affect us.

Yes i'm constantly changing in terms of my interests, my outlooks on things and my opinion on different subjects. I think that's healthy and just adapting. People go through bouts of drastic or subtle changes at different times and at different rates but most will change in one way or another at some point.

If people around you are not growing and changing then maybe you need new people around you. Sometimes you get into hobbies, projects and adventures wanting to learn new things then when you have learned as much as you need you start heading in another direction. I have learned so many things I hope I keep changing to head in other directions.

i think we change if we feel drawn to something different,
or to be like someone we admire.

our bodies r always renewing itself with new cells,
so it would seem right to have a fresh mindset occasionally.

it's ok to let past things go, as long as there are some new things to enjoy.

i have to remind myself constantly to enjoy my life now,
because for decades all i did was struggle at work.

moderation was not in my vocabulary,
& i didn't seek the help i so desperately needed.

change, for me, came suddenly & painfully.
but it didn't have to be that way.

my mistakes nearly killed me,
so i'm glad just 2 be still alive 2 begin again

peace 2 my friends @ SA.

I should hope so, it's called maturing.

It would be worrying if people stayed stuck at the age of about 12, for example, rather than learning anything, like how to behave, how the world works etc.
