I get that 'Douwe Egberts' instant coffee. It's not bad at all.

Coffee percolator - one of those push down jobbies that looks like a big mug with a push down handle. You brew proper coffee in it, push the handle down to trap the grounds then pour. Voila, nice coffee! You can pick a cheapo one up for under a fiver, probably get a pot of coffee with the change too.

A percolator boils the water and drips it through the coffee grounds (which are in a mesh basket thingy, over the jug) And definately worth it, I pop a pot on every morning, it makes the house smell lovely and its yummy

my problem with cafetires is that you have to leave the grounds and water in em for a good 5 mins to let the flav develop. by this time it is past its optimum temperature imo. lukewarm coffee...how special

do percs sort this out?

Haha... Brainfart. Sorry. Get a cafetiere ( which is what I was thinking of :embarass: ) with decent insulation and it's fine... I can never be bothered with the drippy things.

I am a terrible snob when it comes to coffee. I won't drink instant, cafetierre or even coffee from perculators. I'll only drink coffee from an espresso machine which steams the coffee grounds. I'll only use arabica beans, Lavazza or Illy brands being my favs. I like it strong and the stuff comes out black like tar, as it should be.

I find that if you warm your milk in the microwave just before you pour the coffee, it is a more agreeable temperature.
I prefer to use my Moka Express stove pot. No issues with temperature, and great coffee every time. Probably the greatest invention of all time!
