I couldn't find my phone a moment ago. Then it realised that I must have left it in a restaurant that I was in earlier this evening. I just drove back. The guy was like, "I've charged it up for you!"

How nice!

Good job he found it because it's got my driving licence tucked in the back cover!

^ what a lovely man!
it’s when I lose things that I am reminded there are some lovely humans about.
I left my phone on a trolleybus in Bosnia of all places, and the bloke jumped off ran after me to give it back. The bus was every half hour I think, so I guess he had to wait for the next one. I did insist of giving him some money, which he tried to resist.
If I didn’t get that phone back, my holiday could have been a disaster, as the phone had so much on it that I needed.

I’m currently thinking that I wish there was another way I could get the same feeling of relaxation as I do after I’ve had a few beers. I don’t get absolutely drunk anymore (or haven’t for a while), but get a little tipsy. Last week was the first week I’ve drunk alcohol every day after work. It was an awful week at work, not that that’s an excuse.

^^ such a sweetie. it's nice to meet some of life's beauties I'm going to have to google what a trolley bus is. You're so well travelled !

^ once I offered my seat to pregnant lady on the tube. She had loads of bags, so i said she could swap seats with me as there was a spare one next to me that she could put her bags on. She was offended that I thought she needed two seats. A few stops along she apologised. I said she was a bit scary but she must get really frustrated with everyone fussing over her.

Just like you, I'd rather be respectful and offer. It's how I was brought up to be, also

I’m quite hurt about your lack of trolleybus knowledge. Quite offensive really.

Basically, imagine a bus and a tram mating. A trolleybus would be the offspring.

Britain used to have quite a lot of them until the great trolleybus massacre of the late 1960s. Fun fact, Bradford was the last place to have them.

Oh my I just did some Googles and there is a museum where you can ride them! Amazing. SAUK meet?

Why people use the phrase "like a fish out of water" to describe a sense of awkward out-of-placeness.
While a real fish out of water would surely be feeling utmost fear and terror at being unable to breathe.

I think the phrase comes from a time and place where people had little consideration for fish.

I'm not far from the places where i grew up, so i've seen them change. First and middle schools would probably be unrecognisable and i don't think they'd bring up much in the way of emotion or memory. Senior school may be interesting, but i shouldn't imagine too 'traumatic'. The two places that i'd be most curious about going back to are my previous home and my Grandparent's home, but i know i won't like the inevitable change that comes with new owners.

Going back to the places I lived in as a nipper would be more interesting. One has turned into millionaires row, so it's more depressing.

This country is going to pot.

Dentistry in my area is all but privatised now. You can't receive NHS dentistry anywhere now except in the hospitals.....this is how privatisation of the NHS has begun.

I did well to have NHS treatment for 32 years.

I think she voted them! She voted Boris really, like many - cult of personality. It's small examples like this (re: ear wax removal cost) that people, who don't pay much attention to politics, need reminding of.... and, believe me, i will remind her over and over.
