^^ I agree Alone, surely you can't pretend to be something you're not forever, it sounds exhausting and it's unfair to everyone involved. Like in your example, there might be someone who loves open books that would be a genuine match rather than pretending years down the line you wouldn't want to regret faking your personality all that time

Being a boomer who likes goth/industrial/electronic/no wave music I'm a big Bowie fan. Bowie helped shape 70s/80s + music in a big way. Like all his music from Space Oddity to Scary Monsters after which it was much more hit and miss for me. His music has always been in my music life (since 12 or thereabouts). It was always nice to think he's around...

I don't hear anything special in Harry Styles music. Much of popular music (mostly since Stock, Aitken and Waterman) is very formulaic and predictable...

Just my opinion.

I'm sure it's not this cold by this date usually, it's like the weather heard about the fuel price crisis and is doing it on purpose

Hi Genovese

I'm sorry it's late. I just want to visit a few members on the forum. It shouldn't take long.

I've also got you a cheese and pickle sandwich:

Ok, let's go!

RIP Coolio. I'll always remember you for the non-stop repetition of Gangsta's Paradise on music channel The Box in 1995.

Why it seems that every boy under the age of 13 is called Archie or Alfie.

^ Until recently it was Josh or Callum. At least Alfie is a good 'ol Anglo-Saxon name (not many of those in use anymore)

I like Alfred, it's a nice traditional name. I think most people are naming their children the shortened versions though rather than Alfred and Archibald, which is a shame.

R.I.P Coolio

I actually went to a Coolio gig. He performed at our Student Union during fresher's week when I was at Aberystwyth University. A bit awkward though I only knew THAT song and nothing else haha.

This is always an awkward time of the year for me as it marks an unpleasant anniversary for me. Even though it happened 13 years ago this week I just think I'm lucky to still be here.

I've always wondered like why do I always remember this anniversary? and why can't I shake it off? It doesn't seem neurotypical to dwell on an anniversary of something as negative and dark as an overdose.

^ Thank you I don't know...it just seems to be for 2 or 3 days every year around this time I feel different...not fully myself as I know what time of year it is.

It don't help now that my longest friend has told me she won't be able to come and stay with me and the family next weekend because she has to have an MRI scan she's been delayed countless times she should have had it months ago but just so happens that the next appointment has to be....On that Saturday she was meant to be visiting...like whattt the ****kkkk. We don't live round the corner from eachother either it's different countries (I'm Wales she's England).

I just want to cry and hide away and listen to sad/depressing music for the rest of the weekend. I'm crying as I write this as well. It's not fair.

^^ aw, cym. It's natural to feel this way about it. From your posts you've come a long way since that time 13 years ago and really pushed yourself try some amazing things. That is sad news that your friend is now unable to make it. Have you set another date instead? It's nice to have things to look forward to. I've started taking on little projects. I get some modelling clay from The Works and follow YouTube vidoes to make clay models. Maybe you and your friend could do something like that over zoom. Then even though you're not together, you're virtually together. I guess normal people would just have a chat on the phone or over zoom hehe

Take a little time this weekend to be gentle with yourself by having a walk in nature or by listening to a guided meditation. Try to reach out to your family as well and I'm sure your friend will be there for you even if she can't be physically hope her mri scan is okay.

I think I agree with you there. Some of their songs are absolutely naff, such as Its A Kind of Magic which seems to have been used on hundreds of different adverts. Why artists allow their songs to be used in tacky adverts I will never know as it devalues their songs.
But Queen have some incredible songs such as Under Pressure (with Bowie!), Radio Ga Ga and I Want To Break Free are pretty incredible. As well as some of their less popular songs. To add to this I also have very small ears so I look like a proper Mr Potato Head. Thank you genes!

——-

I’m thinking that I wish I didn’t have such a round face. But I suppose that’s the wierd British island genes. Doesn’t help that I have a double chin growing for some reason. I would like a more angular face which seems to be more popular. I also have very small ears which makes me look like a proper Mr Potato Head! No wonder I have zero interest with online dating
