^Yeah, you can ask. I didn't say because I'm feeling really lazy - the good kind of lazy, the comfortable kind of lazy.

The first time was when I was about 11 at the seaside. Me, my sister and some boy wanted to go swimming in the rain. The weather took a sudden turn for the worse when we were out there. Thunder, lightning, heavy rain. The waves were huge, they kept pulling us out and under. My sister and the boy got scared and went back in, I wanted to stay to experience it. It wasn't long before the currents started pulling me out. I couldn't get back in. I was being pulled out and under. I could not get back in. Then after a while I got caught in a current that sort of swept me down the coast and into the beach. I was miles from where I'd started. It was exhilarating. I remember at one point getting dragged past some fishermen on the beach, they were little grey dots, waving their arms at me, I didn't think they had anything to worry about, I felt like I would be okay. I was very lucky.

The other time is a longer story, which I'll put up later. Too lazy right now. Now is the time to lie down and watch a film or three.

^ Comfortable lazy is good.

You sound like you might have enjoyed life as a fisherman, out in all weathers bobbing about in the ocean in the middle of a storm

^Interesting you should say that. When I did the careers test in school it said I should be a fisherman. What you've described does sound really appealing to me. But those guys are strong, hardy types though. I'm not that.

Good idea for a thread. If someone (not me) could find a good careers test, we could post our results.

^Oh well there you go! Or perhaps a professional sailor or storm chaser.

I think I took a careers test at school once and it said I should be a wig maker

I sort of got my Strava KOM back today but it seems that as I'm now in joint first place it doesn't count properly

(I could have gone a bit quicker if it wasn't for those pesky pedestrians, three abreast the silly people).

I wish I could be a better friend. I'm so complicated and inconsistent, I don't mean to be but I want to be good for people I care about and it's getting me down that I'm so crap at it.

^ & ^^ perhaps I am insane but I read "complicated" as interesting.

I have been pretty down the last few days thinking about my future, and I guess my past. Hmm, me in general I suppose.

I have been trying to figure out what to do for the next stage of my life which involves working out how much money I would leave to continue to exist. Which involves thinking about how long I may live. Despite how old I feel I am utterly depressed about just how much linger I am likely to have to plod on through the drudgery of existence. I mean, I may not even be half way yet ! ****ing depressing.

How can these things be so specific as to suggest wig-maker and dog groomer?!

Yeah, I think I also find it comforting because it equalises everyone: everyone wants to get out of it and back indoors in the warmth.

^^I see. I think there needs to be a change in the way threads are deleted when requested by their starters. I'm not having a go at anyone when I say the following, I'm just putting an idea out there about the way some (not all) thread deletion requests are managed. I will say it again: My points are about the deletion process NOT about people's requests to delete threads.

I mean, fair enough removing all the personal threads, but when a thread is just about something like a tv show or a news item, I think the thread should just revert to the next poster.

I mean, I've seen some threads where the OP will ask something like 'What do you think about the thing that happened?'. The thread will get 40 pages of replies, some of them thousands of words long, with a lot of thought gone into them. There'll be lots of ongoing conversations, lots of interesting points made, then the OP, who might not have contributed anything more than the original post, will ask for their threads to be deleted and... poof! It's gone.

I know that sometimes people want all that stuff gone. All trace removed. And that's fine. I just think that the deletion process could be more discerning, like not deleting the threads where the content has nothing to do with the OP, just revert it to the next poster. If that can't be done, then split the thread after the first post, then delete it.

The cat caught a frog today! She brought it in the back door and I only realised when she was making meowing sounds and hadn't come straight in for food like she usually does. Luckily it was still alive so I carried it back out to the garden and put it somewhere a bit hidden. Hopefully it hopped away to freedom.

^^ I couldn’t find it.
I know that this is likely to be a sensitive topic, so I have to be careful about the way I word things.
I reiterate: I know that people sometimes want all trace of themselves removed ASAP, so they don’t have time to pick and choose which threads are personal and which could simply revert to the next poster. That is completely understandable.
What I’m saying is that during the deletion process of the threads, the mods might have a quick look down the list of threads to be deleted and be like ‘Oh, those are all clearly personal, those can go. That one’s about a new music album, or someone appearing on QT, etc. That clearly is not personal to them or has anything to do with them other than the fact that they started it.’ That could just revert to the second poster? Yes? No?

^Careful. You're on the verge of becoming one of those people we talked about.

A bit paranoid about the other night. I got drunk and I have vague memories of laughing loudly at Bryan Ferry's face in the music video for Jealous Guy. Like, unhinged cackling at 3am. You can hear a pin drop in my neighbour's flat, so he must have got an earful.

If her cat is anything like this one here, then you're lucky to be leaving. He's clearly insane. He's been belting around the house for the last five hours, jumping over the furniture like he's in the grand national. I've let him out about fourteen times but he just paws to come back in so he can run about some more.
