Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
^ How far do you want to go? Albania's pretty cheap (although it's beginning to attract tourist attention, so that may not last for long), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Moldova (the last two are less attractive if you want beaches). Further afield, there's Georgia or Azerbaijan, for instance.

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
Someone irl mentioned Vietnam to me. Somewhere not too dodgy. I don't know how far, I've done no research. I wasn't expecting a reply, I sort of forgot we have our very own cheap travel consultant. I like it.
Azerbaijan - an old friend of mine always used to refer to it for some reason. |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
^ I came home from there (Azerbaijan - Baku) and it was a really nice place to be - and cheap. Vietnam is good, but English is only spoken in the main cities. If you're happy to go that far, Cambodia is nice (Sihanoukville has a lovely beach), or in the opposite direction, there's South America (obviously, with long-distance destinations, the cheap cost of living has to be offset against air fares - I found Argentina really cheap, but it cost me £1k to get there).

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
^ I get this too and sometimes things just pop out when the nervous filter randomly decides not to work. Then after I keep thinking that I shouldn't have said it. Usually if someone causes offence you'll get some sort of verbal communication, or at the very least an eye roll or a glare.
It's important to note that she could have left for a number of reasons. Like I've randomly had to leave mid many-a-thing because of ibs attack before or a sudden attack of wind. Maybe she's a fellow gassy bish? Or she was late so might have felt a bit awkward and left behind. Also she might have felt left out or like she couldn't contribute. She might have had to get a lift home or a bus back. Leaving things is really awkward, I find. I've definitely snuck off and slipped early before to avoid saying goodbyes haha So many reasons There's not enough evidence to think she left because of your comment. It would be thrown out of court for speculation |

I agree with Biscuit! I also want to add that you come across as a thoughtful and caring member. NW is fantastic is what I say! Or another way of looking at this situation * Chess gets up and leaves the thread* |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
oh we SA people do overthink things. I had a meet, and a really awful post-meet doldrums overthinking stuff. It's just not enough exposure to this stuff, so you get fragile/flimsy, like a group every week you get used to comings and goings. But a rare one, and then everything feels like an 'event' and worthy of over-analysis.

^Looking at comments and thumbnails though it really isn't a surprise if more kids nowadays suffer from BDD I suspect I have some form of it but am too ashamed to be open about it in public.
We are messaged much more with social media on what we are meant to be despite society appearing more individualistic. I guess it is because we can see more people's expression and they are more able to express it but there is so much pushback where, in my opinion, I see so many messages on how conventional attractiveness and ways of being is the right way to be. |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
Recently I’ve thought about doing open uni. The lack of maintenance loan puts me off since uni is hard enough with a part time job. But I think I’m actually considering it more now.

Frasier with just frasier isn't frasier. No niles no daphne no roz doesn't work.

^it's like they found out the originals didn't want to be in it so they cast some randoms to play their roles for them.
Nice to see Lyndhurst back on TV but I'd rather remember him for only fools or goodnight sweetheart even rock and chips was far better. |

There's been a vague mention of cheers so I might carry on watching to see if anyone from that appears as it's based in Boston now not seattle.

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
I'm a fan of Frasier but it's not looking great so far. It didn't help that I kept expecting to see Del Boy make an appearance. Although I read that Roz and Lilith will be making guest appearances. So that's something I suppose. But unless David Hyde Pierce comes back then I can't see the show taking off. Unless of course Del Boy does make an appearance. Tossed salads and jubbly eggs!

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
I might just quit uni for now. From the course I feel like I can study for a degree, I was getting what I was studying and the teachers were decent, but the course transfer situation has messed my degree up so admin and it in the uni have made a mess of my situation. And I’m wondering if I really need to study a degree.
But then I feel like my career options are limited due to autism and anxiety. |

^^ If you can stick with it and get this situation sorted with being able to view the online course materials you'll probably feel good about it in the end. Like you say if you do complete the degree it will open up some different employment opportunities for you too.

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
Online learning is just not the best, is it? Some get on really well but I find it demotivates me to just stare at a screen. I need the in-person interaction otherwise I will just daydream and think of other things.
Worst thing as well is a zoom break out room. Is there someone at uni that you can talk to other than academic staff? I remember at uni having a mental health worker and she would speak to the uni on behalf of the students. She was lovely. You could email the student union to see if there is someone in a similar role. They might be able to help with transferring courses and accessing materials etc. as it can be really stressful to try and sort stuff on your own. |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
^is a zoom break out room something that's as hideous as it sounds?
|
|

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
Yeppppp!
So the host of a larger group Zoom call puts you into little breakout rooms with a few others, so you're forced to talk! Then they either pop into the breakout rooms to see how you're getting on, or ask you to report back to the larger group. |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
^ and people willingly do this for what reason? Must be money involved or fear of being sacked.
My zoom meeting at work would involve me eating a zoom ice lolly on my own. |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
It became the way to continue with uni, training, courses etc. during the restrictions. It seems to have stayed a thing because it's cheaper than in person events. You don't have to pay for a venue or transport to get there.
Haha that reminds me of a witch's hat from the ice cream man. |
