Storm Doris was pretty bad here in Scouseland today.

I unfortunately had to do a lot of driving earlier and there were trees down, roads closed, fences blown into roads, roofs blown off and walls blown down.
The sun is out now and Doris has calmed down, so I better get outside and fix the fence panel that was broken this morning.

Bit wet and windy this morning up here in Bonnie Scotia, and I can see snow on the hills nearby.

Nothing unusual for the time of year though. Seems like Doris isn't bothering us too much....

Quiet here now. Managed to fix the fence anyway. Back in one piece rather than the five pieces Doris left it in.

I can almost hear the jingle of cash registers going off in companies that do fence panel repairs.

Hope no one was hurt, but I saw a massive tree down across the dual carriageway that links to the Port of Liverpool earlier. Really hope no one was under that when it fell.

Sounds like you had it tough down there, flumps.

I'm glad you got things sorted before any real damage was done.

I like extreme weather too. I've always been a bit fascinated by it since I was young. As I was out anyway earlier on I called into Crosby beach on my way home to have a look at the waves. When we get Atlantic storms and a high tide there are some monster waves crashing in there. I've seen the sea rip up concrete and tarmac there just like it was paper. Turns out the tide was out at the height of the storm today, so no damage. Still looked rough out in the Crosby Channel, though, and I hear the Port of Liverpool was shut down.

Been bad here, house down the road lost part of its gable end.
Youngest son had his car written off by a shed roof where he parks his car when he's working down south and we've lost 2 concrete fence panels.

Sadly, a woman was killed in Wolverhampton, and a woman in Stoke-on-Trent and a man in London suffered serious head injuries all due to debris from roofs.

Azalea, sorry to hear about your son's car. Just glad he's safe, though.

Doris is a bad name for a storm. Such a bluster of hot air that carelessly causes so much damage should be called Boris, not Doris.

If they didn't have to do them in alphabetical order, with 'B' already been used this winter, that would have been a good call.

Apparently 200 trees were blown down here in Liverpool yesterday. I saw a big one down just outside the city centre earlier on today. The weather is great here now. Apart from the trees, fences and wheelie bins still down you wouldn't know we had a big storm just 24 hours ago.

We had heavy hailstones and a clap of thunder on Monday night. Could also see a fresh fall of snow on the Welsh Mountains this morning. It seems that the jet stream has dragged a plume of cold air down from the Arctic, but this will be replaced later in the week by a slightly warmer westerly from the Atlantic.

I wish this wind would razz off, motivation to work is minimal enough as it is :/

I don't know about lightning outside but there sure was thunder here. Kept waking me up. Although semi asleep I got slightly unnerved and staggered out of bed and unplugged the TV aerial
Sounded like torrential rain too through the windows.

Never really gets warm or humid enough in Aberdeen for Thunder, and lightening tends to be a rare event too.

I hope (just for a change) we get a semi decent Summer up here. The cold summers are probably the most depressing thing about living up in N East Scotland
