^ I coped better knowing it was only for a few days. We're very fortunate living where we do because extreme weather isn't something we have to deal with over a sustained period (or at least it's fairly rare).

An epic thunderstorm has just started here. You know that movie cliche moment when there is a storm after a drought and all of a sudden rivers start gushing and people start dancing in the rain - that.

I'm having a cup of tea in the garden and it's really nice here. A lovely cool breeze. Dare I say, I'm even a little bit chilly. Not sure if anyone remembers what it feels like to be chillly.

Yay! The next seven days: highs of 22, cloudy with sunny spells and lows of 14. Back of the net!

Today it was cloudy until the afternoon. When the clouds broke and the sun came out my heart sank. How weird is that!? A Brit being upset because the sun has come out!

Tomorrow it’s looking cool and overcast. Bliss.

God, I am so sick of being hot. And I am sick of not being able to sleep. I’m in Essex and cannot wait for the first chilly day. I’d forgotten how much I loathe the heat.

Hmm, metoffice says up to 30 come Friday for my area. I can't tell whether that's peak or whether it'll go on to get hotter into the weekend and after, it's a bit concerning. I didn't mind the last 'heatwave' as you could see it was only 2-3 days of blazing heat and then back to regular after.

The clouds have been protecting us from the sun's rays recently. Today I got sunburnt after two minutes whilst putting my washing out!

It's forecast for 32 degrees where I am on Sat and Sun!

We need some rainy days but let's hope it's not flood rains.

I was out in the sun on Friday at peak and it didn't bother me that much - i was gardening and i didn't even break sweat, it's just not been that hot recently. It's been quite chilled in the mornings too, to the point where i almost reached for my fleece on occasion. It's been my idea of lovely summer weather.

At least the nights are drawing in earlier now and things won't be quite so uncomfortable in the evenings for people that suffer with getting sleep in the heat. Looking at it, the lows are still bearable up til it gets proper hot Thursday/Friday.

Luckily they are only quoting a max of 25 up here, which is plenty hot enough for me.

Today their is a brisk NW wind and even with the sun out it is only 19-20C. Which is just about right for doing things in the garden.

Eek, it's going to be hot again.

At least it's not as bad as where I moved from. x_x I keep getting warnings from my state's county via email, and it seems like they had 35C weather for nearly a week, and fire warnings are in place.

Hot weather sucks. I feel so lucky not to have to deal with forest fires here though (erm I hope). Scary and depressing stuff.

I actually don't really mind it until it goes way too hot, but living here at the moment means I'm not allowed to wear shorts or tank tops because it's against my in-laws beliefs. Add it to the pile of reasons why I don't like living here and desperately want to leave.

We have an AC in our room though, but ugh. It's such a waste of energy having to stay in here and keep it running all day. I'd only reserve it for really hot days at night if I could wear whatever and hang outside and stuff.

It bothers me how nonsensical it is.

I wonder if this summer will mark a change in attitudes to climate change among English people. You can but hope.

If people experienced how bad it's become in Oregon, I don't think even the crazy rednecks there deny it anymore. Only the ones who are being petulant will say that climate change doesn't exist. As a kid I never would have imagined my area becoming a threat for wildfires, or that insane heat dome last year...

I feel that eventually it may become just as bad here. Oregon was known for its rain and mild weather, now it's like California.

And in regards to winter: It's such nonsense that blackouts are being put on the table. Why? This crisis shouldn't even be a crisis. String these energy barons up by their toes I say.

We need renewable energy more than ever.

Also, I hope we won't have a bad winter, but up North it gets really cold. I worry about them.

^ That 'heat dome' weather event was crazy.

So peaks coming tomorrow, going by my forecast, and gets cooler Monday. Tuesday looks delightful (cooler again) with possible showers.
