The attitude that if you are middle class you have it easier. I'm working class and yes I can see that more money can improve life. And I cant see much wrong with not having many problems to deal with. However I'm certain that more money doesn't always mean less problems, I believe middle class people can also have mental or emotional problems but probably less physical problems.
Also the attitude that if you are poor you don't deserve to have gadgets. If you spend wisely and are able to save up for good gadgets/games/clothes, then why not? |

![]() ![]() An old man is celebrating his ninetieth birthday, and his friends arrange a surprise for him. Midway through the party they wheel in a huge cake, and out jumps a naked women. "Hey baby" she says, "I'm going to give you super sex!" and the old man replies "I'll have the soup". |

Openreach (or BT in general, or maybe GPO as they were known at the time that they installed the abominations that are old phone lines). Utter ****ing assholes.
Pretty sure I've figured out the cause of my internet problems – the SNR always seems to plummet when the temperature changes (e.g. at night and in the morning), which would point to some worn joints somewhere on the line that are sensitive to rapid contraction/expansion. That's not wear and tear, just shoddy work – cabling should last forever (well, many decades anyway, at least if it's copper – certainly longer than this house has been standing) if it's done with quality materials and workmanship. Going to have to snip off some of the drop wire to make sure that it's not aluminium (they used it instead of copper during the 80s, to cut costs, so if the cabling was ever replaced/repaired in that time, it could be aluminium). I don't care if the cable is their property – I'm not having some Openreach clown coming here to look at it, only to tell me that it is indeed aluminium, then charge £150 or whatever it is for a ‘no fault’ visit (even though that would be a fault, as aluminium is not fit for purpose, and the only people who don't agree are Openreach themselves, because they're too lazy to replace any cables as long as the customer can sync at all, even if it's at sub-broadband speeds, and when they do replace them, they usually expect the customer to pay for it in full, even when there is a real fault. Might have to hold off on Infinity until I get this sorted. I can't even do ADSL2+ on this line, so VDSL2 will be hopeless, even with the cabinet almost right outside my house (there's no way my line will do >30 MHz if it can't do >2.2 MHz, unless the crappy wiring is between the POTS cab and the exchange, but then half the people without fibre in the town would have problems, which they don't). |

^^ I've only ever noticed it on this forum. I think it might be because people edit/delete their posts so often that you end up with a lot of 'orphan' quotes. I don't want to quote a post that someone may want to remove later.
Personally I want everyone to quote me when they reply, because I get a notification on my phone when they do and so I never miss replies. ![]() |

Actually to me it's an OCD thing - it seems clumsy to quote someone when it's obvious you are talking to them. The "^" symbol is like shorthand for who the post is directed at. |
