It's a bit different from a celebrity crush in that there has to be some kind of possibility of a relationship, in the person's own mind at least, though I guess if the limerence was bad enough and a person felt like that was a possibility I suppose it could be the same thing?
Limerence is where you struggle with intimacy and genuine relationships (probably due to attachment issues) and so prefer to indulge in imaginary relationships where everything is kind of at arms length and mostly in your own head, if that makes any sense?
There are a few people here who struggle with this as a part of struggling with relationships in general.

Interesting, I suppose it makes sense that a SAer would be more inclined to suffer from Limerence.

For god's sake one day I'll crack this whole posting an image thing thing.. saying "here's a picture of a green train called Percy from Thomas the Tank Engine" slightly takes away the spontaneity of getting a picture uploaded
